Better than Destiny

Clair Obscur innovates well on turn based combat while having a really damn interesting story from the get go. The voice acting is some of the best in any game I've played recently with a beautiful musical score and unique landscapes. Highly recommend. I've some issues with the locked 30 fps cutscenes, but it's a small gripe. If you're a fan of the typical JRPG formula, this should be heavily on your radar.

Definitely a game I didn't expect to 100% going into it. I got this game because of it's unique art style and stayed for the story. The gameplay leaves much to be desired, but the world felt exciting to explore in a way I haven't experienced in a while, with a story that clearly had some heart put into it. Couldn't recommend more.

This game sucked.

Really fun game to play with friends. The soundtrack is enjoyable. The gameplay loop can get a little repetitive, but my buddy and I enjoyed our time through the true ending a lot.

Just play warframe

I wish the review system was more than just yes or no. There's a decent game here, but it's not for me and I can't even really recommend it, maybe wait for a sale. I find the card mechanic to be lacking in a means to adapt to situations due to the variance of the random card draw. You're often thrown into small rooms with traps everywhere and you can't even rely on the cards you've set up to counter the situation because you have zero control of when those defense cards might show up. Combine that with limited mana and, if you're like me, an increased deck size from choosing constant mana upgrades and that problem gets worsened further. That doesn't even bring into account how unnecessarily tanky enemies start to get at mid/late game. It's just a recipe that leads to a lot of tedious encounters. Also small gripe about the endgame....enemy projectiles being green in an area with a green background where all the enemies drop green currency...questionable design decision.

It's a good enough game on sale. The game is beautiful for starters. I enjoyed my time, but it's not a must play by any means. I think the mana = health mechanic is interesting enough but the overall loop of the game gets rather bland pretty quickly. A particular mechanical decision towards the end of the game definitely throws a wrench in the cogs, BUT it's manageable. If you like MVs get it on sale I'd say and see how you like it.

This is a very close contender for best Metroidvania I've ever played. The gameplay is very fluid and fun to engage in. The The environment is beautiful in it's deformity. It's obvious a lot of thought went into the lore and environmental storytelling. Grime also has quite possibly the best NG+ loop I've ever seen in any game. I cannot recommend this game enough.

This was a metroidvania I wasn't expecting to enjoy as much as I did. The storytelling is the big selling point for me here. The way in which this game delivers it's lore through such well written dialogue really kept me playing and wanting to learn more. The gameplay is fine, a little easy, but it kept me entertained for the entire playthrough. I'd recommend this game if you find yourself with a little bit of time.
