Resetting player progression in a F2P game to make people buy the DLC is a pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ business tactic.

Also, the prices are absurd.

The game's VR aspect needs some work but it's very fun otherwise to fiddle around in. It's way better optimized than the first version of the game and there's more interesting things that can happen to planets, like exploding, or ripping into pieces, or having craters, etc.

Is it worth $25? Eeehhh I'm a bit on the fence. I'd bump it down $5 if I were them but I don't know how much development actually costs for these guys. There's a lot of scary math that goes into this.

After 4 straight hours of play I could not lift my arms anymore.

0/10 devs fix pls

(I'm kidding. Wonderful game. I'm just out of shape.)

It's an interesting concept, but there's too much untapped potential at the end of the game and no replayability. The sandboxing could have been expanded upon far more than it actually was. It's just a puzzle game, and it barely lasts 4 hours of gameplay.

It's only fun until you beat it.

The game would be fine if not for everything that flies jittering like it's having a mid-air seizure. It's impossible to shoot things in this game.

Didn't enjoy this game at first. It felt like another pointless survival game with no ultimate end. Survive and build until you get bored. Lost and abandoned on an alien world, alone, nobody to talk to, nobody to even share your creations with... That's how I felt. Just another lousy survival game. Lord knows we have enough of those. For my first two hours of gameplay, that's how I felt. I left a bad review, and I didn't intend to keep playing. There's not even multiplayer, so what's the point?

But curiosity got the better of me. Screw it, I said. I'll mess around in this new game because I have nothing better to do, I thought.

Then suddenly I get a message that rescue is coming. Wait, what? You mean there's a way OFF this rock!? So naturally I rush out to where rescue is supposed to pick me up. Without spoiling anything, let's just say it occured to me that there IS actually an end to this game, and so there's an actual goal to work toward. Suddenly the game becomes A LOT MORE INTERESTING. You're presented a challenge and a tangible goal rather than just aimless wandering with sprinkling of story.

Be warned, however. Subnautica is not a regular Sandbox game. It's a horror game in disguise. If you're not afraid of the dark, or afraid of looking down in the ocean and not seeing the bottom, this game will make you VERY afraid.

I'm hooked. I've been binge-playing it for 22 hours now. The first few hours are boring as hell, but then it really REALLY picks up.

The VR aspect of the game is horrible though, don't bother with it.

Way too short of a game. Wait until it's on sale. Steam Summer Sale is actually a good time to buy it, as it is only $5. Otherwise, don't.

I originally played this on the Xbox 360, and boy was it fun. Still is. The controls are generally ported over pretty well to a mouse and keyboard, barring one or two minor exceptions where it feels a bit odd.

Or, you know, you could play this with a controller, which is actually surprisingly comfortable. This is the only game I've ever known to make an RTS work well on a console.

If I am to view this objectively as if I were never exposed to the game before, and if I were to compare it to other RTS games already on PC, it's a little on the basic side by comparison, but it's still a great deal of fun, especially if you like Halo. Also it has a COOP story campaign so that's neat too.

For someone who is new to real time strategies though, this game would probably be an excellent game to start with.

tl;dr For $20 I'd say it's worth it.

The gun play is way better than any previous Fallout game, even modded. The storyline is kind of meh but the main story isn't the real charm of this game.

I mean for crying out loud the storyline is so predictable that a Gmod server in 2010 had a Fallout roleplay server with the Minutemen, the Institute, and the Brotherhood of Steel. The only difference was the edgy teenager who wrote the plotline also threw in the Enclave, where the Enclave are absent from actual Fallout 4. (Trust me, I'd know; I was that edgy teenager.) I'm not saying Bethesda plagiarized the idea, I'm saying the idea wasn't very original to begin with if my dumb*** came up with it five years before it came out.

But still, game is good. The gamePLAY is good. That's where it shines.

Maybe I'm bias because Boston is my home area, but I enjoyed this game enough to dump 700 hours into it by the time of this review. I played through the first time completely without mods, then in proper Bethesda RPG fashion, went back and modded the crap out of it.

This is simply a must have for any VR owner who likes shooters.

I really don't know what else to say. It's fun. Like, a lot of fun. My face is sore from playing it too much.

It's frequently updated, the developer is super responsive and a nice guy, plus it has this game mode called "Take and Hold" which is just so much fun.
