Most negative reviews are now outdated and related to a bug that has long been fixed.
The voiceover is actually pretty much on par with other civs. I like it a lot personally, and I have a fairly sensitive ear.
Overall a super fun and flexible civ - just get it if you're interested in it.

Disappointing.
I can't, in good faith, leave it a negative review, because it definitely leaves an impression. That said, here's what you should know before playing:

Most importantly, this product deserves a very serious trigger warning it doesn't have.
You can skip this paragraph, if you don't care. Themes include: suicide, murder, domestic violence and neglect, multiple symptoms of schizophrenia, trauma, possibly derelization and OCD, usage of prescription drugs. It includes light jumpscares (no loud screams or screeches) and can very much trigger bathophobia and scopophobia. I can't stress this enough - contrary to what most people seem to be saying - if you've been diagnosed with mental illness or trauma, you definitely shouldn't expose yourself to this type of media.

Secondly, this is hardly a game. It's a poorly translated short story you might enjoy, and there is nothing more to it. There is a single ending, there are barely any "hidden" dialogues, and there is no real freedom in choosing or typing your dialogue options. If you choose three bad ones, you get some flavor text and have to start from the beggining. When you're allowed to type in your own answers, it doesn't really matter what you type in - you either go through, or you get stuck until you answer with something else. You either go with the intended dialogue options, or you're not allowed to play at all.

This is the definition of wasted potential. After your first playthrough, you will feel like there has to be way more to this story, and that you'll discover more, if you choose other dialogue options or type in the right answers. There is a ton of hints that you can do that. You can't. Maybe if you name your character something specific? Nope, nothing of that nature. Absurdity reaches its peak when you type in the right answer, but the game ignores it and says "No, the answer is actually [the answer you typed in]". So the story is painfully linear and unresponsive, and after about 10 replays, and an hour of skipping text, trying out different options, all I found was 2 extra lines of (admittedly chilling) dialogue.

Overall, the story is uh... it's hard to tell if it's good or bad. All I know is it's sad, disturbing, and it definitely sends a chill down your spine. Quality aside, it makes you feel things, and it hits surprisingly hard. For what it achieves in 10 minutes, and for its low price, I'd say it's enough for a "positive" review. I'll probably play the sequel.

As a game - 1/10, not only is it not interactive, it misleads you into thinking it is.
As an experience - 6/10, it's intriguing enough.

PUSS! is basically a trippy cursor maze avoid-'em-up with boss fights at the end of each episode, where an episode is a series of stages that gradually increase in difficulty. After playing the game for 9 hours and getting all the achievements, I can say PUSS! felt really good to play and fully complete. It was a wild ride.

Sadly, there's not a whole lot of different stages - when I played it, I would guess about 50 in total, not counting boss stages (+30 stages were added in a recent update that I haven't played on, so there's more now). This means that by the time you complete the game, assuming you'd have to repeat some episodes after dying to the boss, you'll probably have seen every stage multiple of times. Which is okay on your first playthrough, as you can get better at each stage and feel like you're making progress - but it also means terrible replayability.

On the other hand, each and every stage, each and every boss fight is very well designed. They're all fairly different gameplay-wise and they all have a very distinct aesthetic from one another, when it comes to visuals and audio (can't really say "music").

Achievements in this game are mostly well thought out. Some of them count your progress, some require skill, and some require a bit of grinding. There is also an achievement for getting a super rare, super secret thing to happen. The achievement is fine on its own and I would encourage everyone to try and get it, even though it's fully random and can take actual hours before it triggers - it feels really good (and really scary) when you get it. And until you do, you haven't really experienced the game to its fullest.

But this is where things get utterly stupid. The problem is that there are also two other achievements which require you to get that easter egg 10 and 25 times respectively. I absolutely implore you getting a mod/hack for these two achievements, because getting them in the legit way could potentially take hundreds of hours of actively repeating the exact same, mind-numbing process. I assure you, you will get the same sense of accomplishment.

Overall I highly recommend getting PUSS! on some kind of sale, as I think the price is just a tad bit too high. That said, it's still probably the single best game in its genre. Funny, aesthetic, chill, trippy, creepy, sometimes genuinely scary (it has the horror tag for a reason), challenging and fun to play. I'd give it a 7/10 based purely on my own experience with the game, but it's still getting new updates with lots of content like new stages and avatars, and cool features like full tablet support, new languages and color options, which, in a game that already does have some crazy colors, color options are actually pretty hype. I'd say at this point it's a solid 8/10.
