All good, from my point of view i always wave and bow and i expect my opponent to return the favor. It helps to recognise nice players in the community from the toxic ones.
As for the comment on your profile, it's a sort of tradition to put a quick note with " + or - REP"

Yeah I'm used to Iron Keep's bridge PvP zone.
What I honestly find hard to accustom to is that (from what u're telling me) welcoming or bowing should be a must, or, the right praxis to follow. I use a welcoming gesture whenever I feel to do so (I do agree it can be seen as courtesy), but, since I summoned tons of red phantoms in that area I can assure u lot of them never cared of doing any gesture (we just give each other time to do preps instead), but I never thought of going to their steam profile bashing them for not bowing or welcoming. I hope u get my point, sorry for the rant lmao

If you choose to go to the pvp zone and summon someone to fight against then a bow or any welcoming gesture is a basic thing to do. It's the equivalent of GL HF if you prefer.
And yes litterally every pvp player in this particular area considers this a good manner.
So if you didn't know, well now you know
