The game that Valve would have made if they were able to count to 3

This is one of the times I wish Steam had a star rating system or simply anything more than just "Recommend" or "Not recommend". Because in the end, the verdict can only be "meh". But since I did spend 20+ hours on it, it felt wrong to give it a thumbs down.

If you can look past the bugs (out of sync audio, quest markers not working correctly etc.) and the annoying always-online requirement that will kick you out and force you to repeat a mission when it believes it cannot reach the servers (which happened multiple times despite me having a network monitor running that clearly showed the connection to be active), then this is a decent shooter game like Borderlands without the over-the-top humor or free roam world.

My tip: Try the demo to see if you like it before buying it on sale.

A neat little Fallout-type game. Took me only 1/10th of the time to beat compared to Fallout 4 but if it's on sale, I recommend grabbing a copy.

As can be seen by my playtime, Spellforce III offers a lot of hours for your money and despite a few non-breaking bugs (such as non-working items) they are all very good (I'm not yet through the game though).

Both graphics and sound are nice and feel very Spellforce. The voice acting feels pretty natural despite not always matching the written text.

Spellforce III again offers large maps with countless things to explore and side quests that are both interesting and varied as well as engaging.

Old fans of the series (like myself) will at first likely be put off by the new command system but after a few hours one becomes accustomed to it (although I still miss the option of selecting an enemy and then selecting the skills to use on them).

Base building in particular will likely confuse some old fans as well because now the key is expanding to new sectors since there is a limit on workers and soldiers per sector. Also, new buildings and technologies require you to find blueprints in the world, meaning that you have another reason to look for loot.

In summation, Spellforce III might not be the best Spellforce game to date and yes it might have some bugs, but it's definitely worth your money imho.

If you liked Borderlands and loved Borderlands 2, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is a must-have!

A nice little indie game with intriguing game mechanics and very good noir-style setting. Unfortunately it's a not very long.
