Beautiful game, beautiful gameplay

Still holds up in 2020. What a special game.

Absolutely amazing game. It has some bugs and glitches that you need to find workarounds for (such as only building certain buildings that are less glitchy or pathfinding getting a character stuck), but overall I've never had a glitch that can't be easily avoided or fixed. Outside of that, it's just a game with amazingly entertaining gameplay and an awesomely simple-to-use modding tool that allows anyone to change the game however they wish. Over 200 hours in and no sign of boredom with it yet!

As a consistently high tier player of this game back in the days of 3v3 (consistently top 100 on two accounts and participation in NACL) and a high tier player in multiple PC MOBAs, this game has devolved into a special rut. However, I will pose this as a review of the port rather than the state of the game itself, so here goes nothing:

Negative Aspects

(1) Input lag is still an issue. The alpha version of the port had a crazy issue of input lag that was very hard to play with, and while it is now playable, it's still unacceptably bad (with a 1060 6gb and i7-8700k clocked at 4.9ghz it feels like Im playing with a burst sku laptop that cost me $200).

(2) Key Mapping: There is little to no options for changing any form of keymapping which is very irritating. You can only swap between a couple default options for a select couple of controls. The keymapping defaults feel very clunky and hard to switch to from other MOBAs so this needs to be addressed at some point in the future.

(3) UI customization: 0 UI customization for things such as in game UI size, map size, etc.

(4) Randomly occurring bugs such as draft screen not appearing (happened to myself and a friend), funky glitches with timers randomly blinking crazy high numbers (only occurred once, also in draft), and more.

Anyways that concludes this review. While I am hopeful that this game gets revitalized at some point as I have lots of fond memories of it, I don't hold much hope in me for it. While it's a step in the right direction by adding the game to a distinguished launcher service, the game is feeling more and more like a pound for pound worse version of any other PC MOBA. I will continue to experiment with the game as patches come out and update this review with hopes that the game improves with time. Make me proud SEMC!

Great game once you learn how to play it lol. Tutorial sucks ass so don't worry about learning everything immediately. You'll learn the tech tree and all of the other stuff eventually. As a side note, public multiplayer in this game is virtually nonexistent at this point. No games whatsoever set up (but what would you expect from a 4 year old 4x game with mixed reviews lol). Best case scenario is if you have some friends to play with. However, single player in this game also has many things to do and is nice because you can adjust the games to be whatever length you want.
