**This game is not finished and will not be finished**

So I got this game for £3 on sale and I wouldn't recommend getting it for any other price. The trailer looked pretty cool but the reviews were real, real bad. A mix of development hell and kickstarter promises going unmet. This game is a part of a much-loved series and didn't meet expectations, but, I'm not an old fan and I know nothing about the genre, so I gave it ago.

I'm relatively new to the immersive sim genre, I love the freedom it gives you to solve objectives, but I also love creative and expansive magic systems and the magic might've been the only good thing about this game (if it was finished) and oh boy this game is unfinished. The graphics and art style are okay, the cartoony look always ages better than realism anyway, but a lot of it is so janky, the way the world is put together, prefabs clipping into prefabs, it all looks so hastily put together, but hey, i only paid £3. I'm 33h in, figuring out how to complete fetes to get cool skillpoints, (one which is SORELY needed as a mage but hard to get) the skill ends up being broken and doesn't work most of the time anyway.... I've figured out almost all of the rune/language magic system (so cool) my spellbook currently has *97 spells*, none duplicates (but a lot are just stronger versions of the same spell, or have some modifiers) and I notice that there are 2 runes missing from my spell wheel, and a 3rd rune I've only ever found on a wand.

So I break my immersion, look it up on a wiki and god the hell i find. So many features that they intended to add, so many items and weapons and wands they intended to add. There were 3 runes missing from the game, one for Earth, Air, and Water. And it just never got finished. It wasn't something they took out of the game, the gaps are still there in my Rune Bag waiting for a dev studio who's never gonna put them there. Enemy AI somehow gets worse the further into the game you get, and once i stopped trying to play stealthily, there was no challenge. At this point I just totally lost interest in finishing the game, because it wasn't finished itself.

Honestly at £3, I got what I paid for, but i know loads of other people paid a whole lot more for this, and did NOT get their moneys worth. If you get it on sale, play it, have a laugh, fill an evening or two. Do not buy it full price, this game is not finished.

It's an incredible game that tickled all my neurotransmitters in just the right way. I was hooked, for literally 7h straight!
This game has so much potential, I can just taste it. It takes games like minecraft and terraria, boils them down to their very base elements and focuses on that while making it the main attraction without the bells and whistles.... and it WORKS!
When I say I was in the zone, i literally did not stop for 7h (maybe a little dangerously addictive but w/e).

A few notes for the Devs.

My only notes for this game are that, I wish the music didn't stop playing when you use the Dusk Staff to collect items. I wish you could stack certain blocks on top of each other (thinks like the Breaker and Collector), and I wish there was a way to make a permanent base because so far, it's just throwing down a bunch of different crafting benches.

Also, I don't know if it's just random land generation, but it would be great if each Biome had all 3 different types of levels, (Woods, Mountains and Beach). In my playthrough, the second Biome didn't have any beaches, so there was no point in moving my base to there because i was limited in what resources were available.

I'd love to see hostile enemies in later biomes, and maybe a health / food system that works a little like Valheim, one that rewards you for cooking and eating with increased health (alongside the current food bonuses), rather than punishing you for not eating with hunger and health loss. As it currently is, I didn't need to use a food bonus once in my entire playthrough, except for a single greed potion to grind out the last few Skills.

All in all, it's a great game to keep you mind and hands busy for a few hours. I can't wait for the full release!

This game is incredible. I tried it once in early access and then again on full release, streamed it too. Myself and everyone watched loved every moment of it! The platforming was fun, Grappling Hook + Glider, what's not to love?!
Exploration really paid off, it felt like the devs were rewarding you for searching every nook and cranny, there was something interesting to see, something to collect, valuable crafting materials.

This is a diamond in the rough, really. I see this and I imagine what the team could've made with more time, more funding, a bigger team... Only thing it's really lacking is a bit of polish. Sometimes the climbing/camera can be a bit janky, sometimes and enemy drops loot that falls through the floor. It's not a common thing but it happened enough to mention. I played this game on normal because the survival aspects were more of an unfair annoyance than an actual challenge, especially with how often snowstorms are.
Honestly though don't let that stop you. This is an incredible experience with a brilliant soundtrack! You'd be missing out if you didn't play it.

This game is so cute! The platforming is so smooth, the jumping is easy to aim, the dash feels very satisfying, some of the collectable are a little challenging, it's very well made! The combat is simple but effective and the graphics are great! Honestly the fact that this game was made in 4 months by 4 people is just amazing. I would love to see them make a full game together. If this is a preview of more to come in the future, consider me excited to see what the future holds for Chemical Games! \o/

Ignore all the people review bombing it. It is an incredible game. The port needs fixing, but that's issues with the port, not the game itself. It is an incredible game and an even better experience. You absolutely should play through all 5 endings. Ignore the recent negative review bombs

I once tried this game years ago but because of complications with the ubisoft launcher, I gave up on it. I wanted to give it another go but now Ubisoft are saying I don't even own the game even when using the product key from steam. Ubisoft Game Launcher, Uplay, Ubisoft Connect, my pc spent 30 mins installing each one of these programs just to tell me i can't play a game I bought. It's a mess. Ubisoft is absolute trash. Don't waste your time on this.

Early Access Review
Honestly this game is amazing. The only thing that could make it better is more content!
(and magic, please gimme runic viking magic!)

EDIT: Three years later and the dev's granted my wish! Magic in Valheim is a little basic, but so cool and satisfying!
I just wish it wasn't restricted to endgame only, and was available at the start of the game so you could level it up alongside all the other skills.

Oh my god. I literally don't have the words to describe how good this game is. I have not put it down since I bought it. This is a great game to play (especially when you're locked indoors).

Idk if Monomi Park read these reviews but omg take my money release more dlc please! New areas, new slimes, new research, new plots I want it all. Or at least add mod support like a steam workshop page because modding can increase the longevity of this game by so much and there's so much potential too!

This game has so much potential and the puzzles & dungeons are easily the best part. It's a great concept but it's massively let down in a lot of other areas. I have a lot to say about this game but it's pretty perfectly summed up by Easy Allies on youtube.

I got this game on sale, and on sale it's absolutely worth playing. But do not buy this game full price. It's really janky in some areas and some things look like they were done on mspaint. At -50% absolutely this is an amazing game everyone should get it and play it. At full price it feels unfinished and like you're cheated out of your money. But the concept and the puzzles and (in some places) the art are so good. The story and characters are charming. Combat is a hot mess, feels unnecessary and tacked on to fill in space between objectives. But again, the puzzles are where this game really shine.

TLDR; Great concept, great game on sale, not worth it full price.

I literally cannot wait for this game to come out. A small team of 7 developers based in India making a game of such beautiful quality. The artstyle and the graphics are phenomenal! And the cinematics are so, so beautiful. The voice acting is incredible! I honestly wish i wasn't so broke so i could give all my money to these devs because they deserve it, but you know i'm saving up to buy this game on release!

Oh my god and the gameplay. The tutorial does an amazing job of demonstrating Raji's full skillset, giving you the tools from the very beginning to create great and flashy combos. The controls feel perfect, not too heavy and not too floaty, jumps and dodges have the perfect weight behind them, this game would do platforming segments really well.

I am so excited for release day.
