I was a huge fan of the previous chapters in this game. HUGE FAN!

But this chapter is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ atrocious.

First off, I want to say the story is okay. It continues to expand the lore and does a pretty damn good job doing it.
Some characters are unnecessary (like Ollie, felt like Poppy should just have helped us instead? Unless they have plans for Ollie in the future chapters) but don't ruin the experience whatsoever.

The music sounds great! Fantastic sound design and atmosphere, I really felt like I was going into a different world. Reminded me a lot of the original Bioshock.

The graphics, BETTER THAN ANY OTHER CHAPTER, ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!! Each location is super well detailed.

The gameplay, most of it, I will discuss the final boss battle later (it will be marked for spoilers), is really fun! Lots of cool new additions and great puzzles. Legitimately had to look up a few because I was so puzzled.

Voice acting is amazing as well, each performance is really really good.

Now by reading this review, you are probably wondering, this guy really likes this chapter! Why is it a thumbs down??

Well simply put,

This game is UNPLAYABLE. It is SO BUGGY, SO CHOPPY, SO UNBEARABLY GAME BREAKING THAT I CANNOT ENJOY IT.
I experienced NUMEROUS bugs through my playthrough, both of which slowed down my FPS to a crawl, and ruined my immersion.

Enemies would jumpscare me through walls, and glitch through doors.
There would be extremely bad audio bugs in battle, that would ruin my focus.
Some chases were not mapped correctly, allowing me to get stuck and die constantly.
There were spots I fell into during a puzzle that I could not get out of, making me reload the last checkpoint.

Speaking of checkpoints, THEY ARE TERRIBLE. Constant times I would have to run back to an area to trigger an event into a chase, instead of you know, SPAWNING ME AT THE CHASE. LIKE ALL THE OTHER CHAPTERS DID.

The final boss battle is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bad. I see the concept but the game is so laggy because of the red smoke that I cant do the objectives or anything (I even turned graphics to low). There was no adequate explanation on how the boss battle was to operate. Every time you fail the checkpoint would send you back to the tutorial of the room. So you would have to redo the tutorial everytime you had a new attempt. Which is so stupid, should just allow you to skip the tutorial. When you would shoot flares at CatNap, sometimes they would phase through him, and then sometimes they would phase through him as a ghost, but turns out, hes not in your imagination and hes the real deal. Even though you literally just shot a flare at him and saw it go through him. Absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ broken.

This took me 5 hours to beat, 1 of them for dealing with running back to where I was at from ♥♥♥♥♥♥ checkpoints, redoing the tutorial, etc.

Even though I bought this on sale, I still think you should wait to purchase this as it is simply NOT worth your TIME or MONEY. This reminded me of Project Playtime level of bugs all over again. AND THAT WAS FREE!

Please, Mob Entertainment, fix these bugs and frame rate issues. They absolutely ruin the experience. And this is a great chapter.

Pros
- Solid story-line, genuine emotion felt
- Multiple endings are refreshing and fun to get
- Great soundtrack
- Good jumpscares, genuinely scared me sometimes
- Cutscenes are really cool, made me wish there was a full anime for it

Cons
- Controls are hard to maneuver, especially in chase sequences. I highly recommend going into settings and turning on automatic running, made the game a lot quicker and easier
-Needed more exploring, maybe different notes to read, something to add to the story-line for the characters involved. The floors were interesting but there wasn't enough items to pick up or have that had any weight or value. No notes, (except for the ones the Security guard leaves) that have journal entries, or something of that nature.
- The check point/autosave system depends on where you die, so if you accidentally load a manual save and die, the auto save will overwrite the previous and it will take you back a long while. This causes a little bit of annoyance, as I found myself accidentally loading a manual save and dying, and then the auto save saving in that spot. It brought me back in progress.

Otherwise the game is pretty fantastic even for a free to play game. The game took me roughly 2 to 2 1/2 hours to complete with all endings. Pretty good shtuff. Highly recommend if you are a classic horror RPGMaker game fan like The Crooked Man, The Sandman and Ao Oni. If you like the idea of Corpse Party, I'd also highly recommend the game.

OVERALL: 8/10

So far, I will say Eastward is the most charming RPG game I've played since Undertale. And honestly, I can't tell which one is better.

Even playing this game for free, I can say it is not fun. It is so glitchy, arms just phase through people bodies regularly, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ calls are made and the graphics look terrible, even on the highest settings. Go watch football, or go play football outside. Better spending of your time and money.

Just a great sequel, expands on the original, while upping the atmosphere, music, gameplay, everything is better than before. The price is a lot, but I think it is definitely worth it.

Might be one of the best sci-fi horrors game I've played in a while. Great game, please play it.

Here's the deal.

The Game starts off incredibly strong with a creepy yet freaky introduction. Episode 1 is my favorite. I will say they really need to be more specific and give the player more hints in the text based sections but otherwise very good.

The game takes a huge dip from here. The gameplay becomes repetitive, non-specific, and boring. The stories become more confusing. Episode 3 is okay, I liked the code translating concepts expressed here. But 2 is just terrible. 4 is the worst by far though. The stories build up to be something COMPLETELY different than hyped and it just makes no sense. The big reveal is well, just not that great. It's wasted potential on an ending that is very subpar.

An incredibly miraculous experience full with tons of awesome things to do, Hollow Knight is a great example of how video games change lives.
