Unless this game is sold to another company it is not worth playing. The game was sold to Gamigo which is the video game killer. There have been no content updates in years, just recycled events and the playerbase consists of a handful of people that still play for nostalgic reasons or something who even knows. I used to LOVE this game. I probably had thousands of hours and have played since the beta. RIP Rift.

I absolutely love this game. The crafting system is one of the best I've ever experienced. The gathering system is even better. The vast majority of things you see in the wild from rocks to trees and plants etc is gather-able. The player base is large enough to find people to do stuff with and the economy seems to be doing alright. At first things may seem expensive as gold gain starts slow but you easily catch up enough to realize it feels okay. The new expansion (although it was small considering the game has been out for so long and this is the first expansion) added some really great content. What really draws me to this game as my new main MMORPG is the classless system. I absolutely love the idea of freely switching your class because the skills are tied to the weapons themselves. Each weapon boasts 2 specs, each with 3 unique skills, and you can wield 2 weapons at a time. This game feels so unrestricted that it seems like you can do whatever you want. Player housing, costumes, factions, and a huge PVP focus (although you can play the game entirely without touching PVP) are all bonuses. I definitely recommend this game. I think the price is worth it at full price, even better when it's on sale. EDIT: i'm only adding this portion for the task for updating my review for a game i nominated

First off, this game is hard and unforgiving. this is not a run and gun shooter game. this game involves strategy, and requires a lot of learning of the weapons, maps, and different mobs. one small mistake could cost you. this is a type of game where if you die in the game, your character is gone for good along with all the items you purchased for them. The noise you make in game matters and headphones are highly recommended while playing. i don't recommend this game if you get angry at video games easily. i DO recommend this game if you can enjoy a hard game that gets easier with the more knowledge you have on it. this is probably my favorite game at the moment and i don't see that changing any time soon.

Joined a server called "They stole my pants" no idea why it was named that but i kept playing. the next day i started playing again, but on a different server, ran in to a bunch of bandits who wanted nothing but for me to take my pants and throw them on the ground and run the other way. upon running the other way naked from the waist down i get shot in the back.

10/10 will recommend.
