Very disappointing game, honestly

It had so many chances to not be terrible and disappointing, but here we are

The story is honestly pretty good, for what it's worth, but nothing you do leading up to the end makes ANY difference on the actual end of things.

There's a lot of good elements, but there's a lot that can just be confusing non-sense if you don't know enough of the mythos to start with (looking at you, helpful dude from the start of the game).

The animations are not great, the voice acting is alright (with notable exceptions on both sides of the spectrum but not where you'd want them), the city feels excessively static, the NPCs are metaphorically made of the thinnest cardboard, the resources are said to be scarce and feel like they are but only in the wrong ways: they're not hard to find, they're just hard to find when and where you'd like them, and you can only carry a small amount of each things, but it's super easy to refill literally everything you want in 15 minutes in one spot next to a fast travel node.

I enjoyed playing the game for a lot of it, but i can't recommend it to anyone. The ending is too infuriating and disappointing (all of them), to the point where it sours the time i spent leading up to the end, which is honestly quite the shame.

It should be a good game. I could be a good game. It's not a good game.

if you're here because you've bought the ukraine bundle like me, don't waste your time installing unless you want to kill an hour with mindless garbage.

There's nothing to this game. The textures are recycled to the point of every monument writing being the same across a level in a VERY noticeable way.

invisible barriers are everywhere, annoying controls, annoying mechanics, and while there is a certain level of realism, it mostly comes in the form of spending half your time digging up nails and bottlecaps. Thankfully they're worth a whole dollar...

i'm never getting this hour back. At least i can still save yours.

Edit: I still want to take a moment to thank the developers for throwing their hat in the bundle. Bad game or not, the gesture matters a lot more.

Edit 2: alright. i feel it isn't fair to complain without at least trying to help the devs. here are some more specific comments, in horrible formatting:

Digging: Theres no reason the animation isn't automated. The 4 (or maybe more, i didn't get to deeper treasures) clicks it takes to find, dig, and pick up something adds nothing but annoyance and mouse wear. It may sound like nitpicking but it's so unnecessary and time consuming and awkward that it becomes annoying after 3 digs. Especially when it's just always the same, and there's no skill involved what so ever. if you really wanted to force interactive digging, make it so you have to dig manually around the area, maybe add actual skill based interactions as far as finding the thing in the pile of dirt, sifting, figuring out if you've already dug it up into the pile or if it's still below.

In-Game navigation: the collision model of things isn't super fun. many places on map edges make it seem like i could climb but i couldn't. maybe find a way to indicated the map edge more visibly so it's less frustrating. add a jump function or a vault function, because sometimes those fallen logs could be traversed a lot more satisfyingly that way, especially when it comes to the time trial thing. Controller support should be considered as well. It partially works, just enough to make you realise a controller would be an amazing way of playing, but there's parts that just don't work right and that's really sad.

UI: The map animation is just so annoyingly slow that it becomes frustrating. Props for integrating it into the in-game world, but shortening it by half would be a wonderful QOL improvement that would take nothing away from that while making it feel less like we're being held back by animations. changing the default mapping of some buttons would probably be a good idea, like putting the job menu or the map on tab.

Storyline : there's virtually none. that's honestly a shame. There could have been something a bit more engaging, and maybe something to better hide the grind of "dig holes, sell junk, buy next detector, dig deeper holes".

People say it feels empty. It does. That's space. it's empty...

It's a damn decent game. A tad pricey at 70$, wait for a sale maybe... i paid 30 and have 0 regrets. Story is actually really interesting, looking forward to making this a 100-150 hours play for sure

It's good because it's free. It would be bad if it wasn't.

I didn't hate it.

Takes about an hour
