If Studio Ghibli made a hotel sim, Hotel Galactic would be it—and that’s not just a compliment, it’s a whole mood. The art style is stunning. Cozy, vibrant, and emotionally nostalgic in a way that clearly draws inspiration from Ghibli classics. Some of the guests even resemble Chibi Totoro (yes, I noticed—and I loved it).

What I Loved

✨ The Art: Easily the highlight. The characters, architecture, even the plants—every pixel is crafted with charm and intention. It's dreamy, quirky, and so alive.

🛋️ Room Customization: You’re not stuck with cookie-cutter hotel rooms. You can actually decorate each one to match your vibe, whether it’s celestial elegance or plant-filled cozy cabin. That level of creative control is chef’s kiss.

🌌 Atmosphere: There's a tranquil joy in watching your little galactic inn come to life, guest by guest, floor by floor.

🚧 Space Glitches (Demo Bugs)
As much as I’m vibing with the aesthetic and concept, the kitchen is where things fell apart—literally and figuratively.

❗ Worker Priority Bug: Setting worker priorities doesn’t seem to function correctly. Assigning roles felt like I was yelling into the void—my chef just kept wandering or vanishing altogether.

🧼 Kitchen Cleanup Glitch: I couldn't clean up any messes. When I tried, the game told me, “That’s not available yet.” Which... okay, but also, space kitchens still need cleaning.

🚫 Order Blocker: Eventually I hit a wall where I couldn’t take any more kitchen orders because of “no available slot,” even though the space was there. Possibly related to the dishes not getting cleared?

🛠️ Final Thoughts
Despite the technical issues, this demo has serious heart. It’s cozy, artistic, and genuinely fun—when it works. There’s a lot of potential here, and once the kitchen chaos is resolved, Hotel Galactic could easily become a comfort game for a lot of players (me included).

Wishlist it if you haven’t already. And devs, if you're listening: you’ve got something really special here. Just gotta beam out those kitchen bugs.

Rating (Demo): ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
(One star lost to the kitchen black hole, but I believe you’ll fix it!)

My character went insane in the first five minutes and then I died. I woke up and figured it was a dream and gathered bananas, ran into 5 tribemates and they pushed me into an anthill and then I died. I woke up again and ran into a jaguar and ran into the water thinking I was safe but a crocodile ate my butt and I died. I woke up and gathered all the nuts and berries and ate them but my hands were dirty so I died. The next time I was dirty I ran into the water to wash off but a stingray stung me and I died. Best nightmare simulator disguised as a survival game. 10/10

If you enjoyed Harvest Moon and have been looking for an equivalent game then here it is! Nostalgia with added indie fun. This is a great game to play with a friend. I love how the story progresses and it takes time to finish all of your goals.
