Bought this on release day with the hopes of supporting the devs, tho I decided to wait for them to add more stuff.
Unfortunately that did not come as they abandoned the game in the end with the devs being whooped by Paradox restructuring.
Such a shame, go play Star trek New Horizons mod on Stellaris instead

There's a beautiful white furred dragon that deserves all the protection that alone is a yes on my books.
The post game is underwhelming, specially compared to the other mana game.

Sadly you can't pet the dogs and cats you see.

Despite the apparent abandomnent from the publisher, the game managed to come out, it's a 7/10.
It lacks the 'oompf' of Surviving Mars, so surprisingly it's more chill as most of the perils would be self made rather than external.

Wish it had more depth but it's fine for what it is. Hope they do DLC or something but I don't think they would.

The game is decent and fun, a 7/10 but it has some flaws that prevent it from being better and for some might be a dealbreaker;

  • - There's resources that are completely useless other than be used for trade
  • - The combat is finnicky and behaves more like an autobattler than an RTS
  • - The build orders are more or less the same across the missions. This means there's not variability with the infinite resources and a huge chunk of the map will remain unused due to how things work.
  • - While raiders are annoying it's more annoying you're desinsitivized from exploring till you have your guards up, and the game does not tell you this.
  • - There's not much of a consecuences from losing battles, the enemy does not replenish their numbers so you can just go again later.

It is okay but I wouldn't expect much other than what it's shown right now.

Several features of the game related to online like global voting and marketplace DON'T WORK, they refuse to fix or implement offline functionality.

AoW 4 is a steady improvement over AoW: Planetfall, which was already very good in my books.
However if you played a lot of Planetfall you are going to notice a lot of striking similarities; not only the engine is shared but a lot of assets were tweaked/recycled/reused, specially on the animation department where "I seen this before" can happen a lot.
Also a lot of magic and mechanics elements are shared in a similar or exact way as the previous game, some with just cosmetic changes.
This is not inherently a bad thing as Planetfall was a very good game, just something to note if you were an avid player of the previous series.
8/10

Enjoyable experience, it has a long way to be more complete however, the tech tree is extremely horizontal with very limited opportunities of decision making, it does feel it can be improved a lot however.
