Monster slaying done right, it's definitely not for everyone but man is it good for what it is.

Pro's:

+Lot's of weapons and play styles, there should be one for everyone, even joke weapons (my favorite is the giant juicy drumstick).
+Monsters in sizes bigger then you, mother of god it's mouth is bigger then you, and wait you're telling me that walking mountain is what I'm hunting!?.
+You can take a friend or three along to cheese, try-hard or just have fun. (my friends launch me sky high with their weapons or explosives)
+If your friends don't wanna play then you can always rely on your friendly neighborhood Palico/cat, it can get pretty strong/useful if you invest some effort into gaining some gadgets and gear for it.
+And then there's always community hosted servers or you can host one yourself if you have a good enough PC with internet to spare, but beware high ping hosts as that can potentially leave you alone with a raid monster.
+It's a beautiful game with some fairly big maps full of life, details and shortcuts, sometimes straight of the edge of a cliff because you have legs of steel and organs that don't understand what kind of damage gravity normally does to a person after a 600 meter drop.
+Dear god the music is EPIC, nothing sets the tone for taking on a big fire breathing lizard like the MHW soundtrack.
+There are cats walking on their hind legs and doing cute stuff EVERYWHERE, they make your food, and you have a fur faced butler in your room.
+Your living quarters is doubling as your own personal zoo, anything that doesn't attack you on sight and can be caught with your net or fishing rod can be forced invited to live in your animal prison home, and when you get to your new room in the expansion then you can decorate it with trinkets and furniture as well as your trophies pets.
+You can grind all the things and this game will give you hundreds of hours of entertainment, making it worth every cent, if we divided my playtime with how much I payed then I got over 6 hours per euro spent, as of writing this (with expansion)

Con's:

-You can defeat the same monster as many times as you want and never get that one material you need for your new shiny weapon/armor, the grind is sometimes brutal AND unrewarding.
-There's a lot of pre-hunt stuff you have to do if you want to be a decent monster hunter, it's expected of you that you restock your consumables, eat a meal for a buff in health and stamina (and some other buffs that are varied and complicated to master).
-If you're using any of the melee weapons then you have to deal with sharpening (Yes you have to "sharpen" your hammer) sometimes in the heat of battle.
-Some materials can only be farmed in the arena, where you have to beat a monster/monsters with 1 of 5 pre-made builds that sometimes don't make any sense or don't include your favorite weapon, and they are made for 2 player regardless of how solo player you are (meaning it has more health), and your pet cat can't even join you for it, making anytime you have to sharpen a lethal experience... oh and the rewards are time dependent, sometimes you'll get nothing because you took too long.
-Un-skip'able cut-scenes, even the 15 minutes of credits aren't skip'able, and there's twice the cut-scenes and credits with the expansion.
-Last but not least the parrot on a loop handler, do you like being told what to do every 30 seconds? Enjoy being told the bleeding obvious like "your health is low, drink a potion to recover your health" every time you're at 40% or lower? If the answer is yes then seek professional help, if you're sane and answered no to those questions then you're gonna go looking for a "mute the handler" button and be sorely disappointed.

Overall I love this game and would like more people to love this genre, but it's understandable if you don't considering how many con's I listed (And I didn't list them all).
God I'd strangle the "handler" only to keep her quiet, but at least the mod community has us covered, thank god for nexus mods silencing the handler :)
