UPDATE: Go get some Hot Wheels toy cars and play with them instead. This thing is disrespecting your time and waste of your money. It is an embarrassing thing that they named this as Test Drive Unlimited. If they remade the TDU 1 it would be a better game than this.


Racing Game that wants to be Forza or Crew under Test Drive Unlimited title.
* Driving feels good most of the time (with a wheel), then if you crash your car can fly, or just keep going or act weird.
* If there is a barrier while turning just keep going, your car will turn. No need to slow down.
* No Restart Race option. Either finish or abandon and restart. Watch all those stupid menu and cut scenes...
* Graphics are good, optimization is terrible.
* If you play Expert level driving aid (manual gear, TCS, ABS off etc) AI will be Expert automatically. In general they are easily beatable. Sometimes they are 10+ sec away.
* This is an online game, only received 2 server errors since early access.
* Some races go online race, guess what NO MATCHMAKING... so i cant complete the race at all.
* OH the grinding LOL. Out of mind developers.
* You need to grind a lot to purchase the cars. It is not fun. After a while it becomes boring.

Long story short, good thinking but terrible end product. It is just another racing game definitely not a Test Drive Unlimited game.
Developers next time find either better people that knows what is a TDU game is and listen their feedback or learn to listen your player base.

Finally a beautiful game for its genre. I can forget my existence while playing. Thank you developer :D

Looks promising.
My System :
5900X + 32GB Ram + 4090 and working on a town with 5000 people. My fps is 30-35. DOF, motion blur and clouds OFF rest on highest. Using 4K resolution with fullscreen.

They have lots of stuff to fix, so good luck CO. Tons of graphical bugs and Road textures are terrible in my opinion. Waiting mod for that.
Other than that has a huge potential. I remember the release of Cities Skylines 1, so i am gonna give this one a YES.

Don't worry about mod support is being out of STEAM. It will be easier with their own mod platform if they manage iot properly. Steam was pain in the **s to manage.

I have been playing Need for Speed since the first game. The original 1994 "The Need for Speed" Not 2015 one.
I played all versions until the 2015 NFS. Then I stopped playing. Wanted to give a chance to this game as a car enthusiast but nope. This is waste of money for me.

This is just an arcade game where you played with cars... Not for my type of player.

- Cartoon effects are not optional. I have to use Reshade to disable them. I did not even waste my time with multiplayer, so don't care about being banned etc
- Engine sound, exhaust sound is great, but the sound design is terrible so you cannot enjoy it. Too quiet engine! Car & Effects slider bugged, lowers the volume of your car. You can't even enjoy driving with pure engine sound.
- Vehicle selection UI is terrible. When you have 100 cars it is a burden.
- Day/Night cycle, changing your vehicle is terrible. I can't free roam with different cars and enjoy the game.

UNBELIEVABLE!

UPDATE: Feb/2024.
It is unbelievable that this company turned this game into FATAL ERROR SIMULATOR. How is that even possible? you turned a normal working game (on my system) into a thing that does not run. Normally, in other games, they fix bugs but these guys magically created more problems. Do not waste your money on this.


My system can run 4K/60 and graphic settings set to Cinematic (post processing low, hate motion blur). Still need little bit optimization, but have 0 problems so far with the game.

Here is my bullet points:
* Never raced in dakar but did offroad. This is not a simulation like iRacing / Assetto Corsa etc. and feels like more Forza Horizon kind of arcade with better steering wheel feeling in my opinion(still needs to improve). (20+ years / 1m+ kms of driving experience)
* Graphic settings needs to be more detailed. You just adjust few sliders, we need more in depth options.
* Audio settings needs more detailed options
* Changing camera is not practical. I dont want to go through all those views that i may never use. (wish we can customize keys for cam or select which camera settings we will see when changing)
* As what we have in the game right now, it is not enough. I agree to most people that the game has not finished yet, but it is not important for me since i play driving/racing games/sims for a long time, so waiting is not a big deal. if you want to purchase keep that in mind.
* Graphics are awesome, experience is great.
* I have never experienced most of the problems people mentioned here.
* I play without HUD, so no comment on that.
* I am using Xbox One gamepad, i dont like how it feels. Wheel is 10 times easer than playing with gamepad.

TL;DR if you are a driving/racing gamer as i am (started with Stunts 4D Sport Driving in 1990) buy this game, give it time and enjoy it. If you are not, you can wait no need to hurry as the game does not include some really important stuff for release.

Did not play previous Dakar game so can't compare.
