An endlessly deep, story creating game. I find myself coming back to this game spending tens of hours on a colony, getting to know, losing, and gaining more colonists. I still find myself discovering new ways to deal with problems, and new drama unfolding, but the game is also very accessible from day 1. Highly recommended for people who are into some chill storytelling or creating self-sufficient colonies and optimizing them to your liking. The base game without DLC or mods is very worth it, and I'm still figuring out how Ideology fits in, so tbd.

This game is a Team-Based Shooter. If you come into it with that mindset, and not that it's an FPS, you will have a great time. (A healthy does of modern military interest certainly helps). The community is, for the most part, excellent. People are generally really open to new players and the squad leads in the well-known servers range from useful to phenomenal. It's a good feeling when, if your side wins, you feel it came through teamwork and not through your own personal points and skill. And, if your side loses, a close match feels like a win.
