While I have yet to peep the remake, the 2005 version of Resident Evil 4 remains one of the best action-horror titles and one of the best games of all time, period. Super fun, filled with exciting and tense sequences, and with a decent amount of scares- yet I think even those not into horror can get into this one.

It does suffer from a frustrating lack of proper movement speed, and the turret/tank sections are abysmal- but when you're shooting on foot, this game is really gun. a half-point plot twist that freshens up the gameplay and an engaging final fight put the cherry on to[ pf surprisingly decent things that ultimately make this worth a look- and I think it;s a shame this became a black sheep in shooters of the era.

It's nice to have a version of DOOM3 that runs at 60FPS without breaking cinematic or scripted events, but this version strips DOOM 3 of what makes it unique int the series and makes it into a dull, boring, linear action game instead of the slow-paced horror shooter it was conceived as. Ammo pickups are too forgiving, the lighting is far too bright in most places, and there is no real sense of fear anywhere.

The recommendation is only if you want a version of Quake II that's glossier and can run at 60fps- but other than that this is a nice but unnecessary "remaster. It looks nice, and the new gimmicks for lighting and reflections are stunning, but... it kind of ruins the atmosphere of Quake II, which was always grungy and warped. It looks good, but it doesn't look like Quake II. It lessens the tension. Oh, and it'll still require you to hunt down the music files online if you actually want to play this game was it was intended; they're not included with this package either.

A bit too slowly paced at times but full of fun levels with a more exploration-based approach and a truly haunting atmosphere as opposed to the metal-and-blood feel of the original

Bleak and mildly off-putting yet entertaining and with the right amount of dry Humor, Portal is a great introduction to puzzle platforming with a timelessly unique level design and style of presentation.

A stellar blood-pumping action title, DOOM (2016) successfully breathed new life into the series with a decently modernized version of old and outdated mechanics, with some new ones like the Glory Kill that fit the series perfect;y and service its goal of nonstop forward movement greatly. Its atmosphere, great soundtrack by Mick Gordon, and cheeky brand of humor only solidify this surprising achievement.

It suffers from an excess of confusing maze-like level design, and unclear paths for backtracking- but even so, Quake II is an adrenaline rush of a game that makes it easy to pick up and play, even if you're not a huge fan of the original Quake. The fact the soundtrack is broken on this version sucks, though. Hopefully that can be fixed eventually.

DOOM3 has its problems: the lackluster story and unflattering mirroring of Half-Life (1998)'s opening to name a few- But it's still a solid game and one any DOOM fan should check out at least once. It's a solid horror experience with satisfying gun-play and a tense atmosphere that makes every encounter feel challenging and satisfying to overcome.

I also reccomend the Enhanced Edition mod as it fixes up the in engine cutscenes a bit and updates the HUDs and textures without altering the lighting or flashlight mechanics like the BFG Edition.
