Played it for a bit during free weekend and had fun. never played a game anything like this before. Made an infinitely intelligent AI that decided to be racist, so that's cool.
40 bucks? not for me. if you enjoy this genre though, i definitely see a good amount of content here.

Every run feels better than the last. It's okay to fail, repeatedly; after several times you'll have the not starving and not dying of insanity part down, and you'll be able to start experiencing all the boss and end game base content the game has to offer (I have yet to even fight every boss, and every run is still fun)
Side note it's definitely a lot more fun with friends.
The game handles tone and atmosphere EXTREMELY well. If you treck out from your base to explore, or gather food, or vanquish a great foe, you actually feel like you're doing exactly that in a life or death situation. If your character is low on sanity for more than an hour, you will genuinely start to feel misurable and vain, making topping up your sanity bar in the end all the more rewarding. The game has a certain immersive quality to it unmatched by many.

If you're good at entertaining yourself ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around in a sandbox game, it'll be worth your money.
Otherwise, I have that 10 dollars is a bit much for more of a gag game like this. Wait 'till it's on sale.
