A lot of fun as a micromanagement game with a nice blend of tower defense and a dome keeper-esque mining game.

While the game is split between two phases during game-play you can choose to play riskier and work around the underground night worms to extract as much as you can at the risk of losing your workers if planned wrong.

There's plenty of tower variation to make the runs fairly unique, along with the unlock system allowing you to usually get 2 new buildings to work with on future runs. Even if it makes it harder to find the buildings your actually after during a run.

Only real gripe I have with the game is the way it builds difficulty, as you complete higher level contracts you have to deal with an increased number of negative modifiers that are randomized. Some modifiers being relatively noteworthy like reducing your worker capacity or increasing block defenses. However, the game also increases the rate at which the waves scale along with enemy density.
These difficulty decisions make it so that attempting a maximum difficulty run is not only a micromanaging nightmare (as you will practically need to spend every night risking workers for more resources) but also a literal gamble as you could just get modifiers that make it impossible to scale your defenses fast enough to survive the night, let alone the boss that arrives at a just 10 nights in on difficulty 10.

Honestly, I got this game on a whim because of the music; But since I started playing the game it has slowly become one of my favorite games I've played as of recently. The developers of this game released numerous content packed updates over the years and recently capped it off with the 'Good Night' update. The game even has a standalone survival horror mode.

If you're a fan of rouge-lite games then this could be right up your ally, you just have to get used to the isometric angle of the game.

Let me get one thing out of the way immediately: If you are looking for a great deck building rouge-lite game, this is not what you should be looking at. This game is a game with a meta story that does not focus on the balancing of the game itself.

However, if you're looking for a game that is a little spooky and provides you with a sense of accomplishment for finding and completing secrets; This is what I would recommend to you, and maybe you will even cry in the end.

Never have I played a game as simple in design as Frog Fractions. If you're even considering not playing this game at least once, give it a shot since it'll only take a few minutes to beat. The upgrade system introduces new mechanics that can allow the player to slowly hone their skills and build a play style that allows for multiple playthroughs of the game. And as someone who has sat down and played this game numerous times, this game is definitely worth your time playing, you simply won't regret playing this game.

After sinking well over 400 hours into the game, I can say that this game is great for those who have played harvest moon and wish for another well made game of that type.

Early Access Review
If you are looking for the same experience that you once had with the original Dungeon Defenders and it's various sequels, this game might do you well.

However, after spending a while in the game I did not quite fall in love with it as I once did with the original. I still recommend it despite the micro transactions being quite heavily offered due to the fact that it still does get the job done at recreating the feeling of cooperation with friends.

If you want to get the exact same feeling however, you'd probably be better off with getting Dungeon Defender Awakened.
