It's a pretty nice game, being possibly the only final fantasy that I've played other then 3 on the DS I thought it was alright, though the later part of the story felt like it was just rushing you through to the end.

I felt it was still ok other than just how large the map is, with just about Nothing in it, it's as if it's one Gigantic desert with a bunch of pit stops everywhere sometimes.

The combat for the most part seemed at least functional at the least, probably not the best combat ever but for what it is it's good. The only real gripe I have with the combat is it's kind of "unpolished" or how you may say with some of the larger enemies such as if you were fighting a giant snake.

The music is, as you would expect, very noice, the only thing I don't like about the music in this game is how you can be running across the field to have it cut out and afterward cancel'd if you run into a fight, and in some very minor instances it felt like a few of the tracks were just "final fantasy, but lets mix it up" but that's probably just me.

overall I think this made me a fine birthday present when I got it after a couple months of the game being out and I'd personally say that if you were willing this game could be a great 20-40 hour use of time to casually play through the story and the 3 character dlc's that take about an hour each.

Speaking of performance though, I first played this game on an ol' i5 4690k and a GTX 1050ti where it sometimes felt as though I had to turn every single dile down for performance reasons and in rare cases in the Gladio dlc I felt as if it was for a moment unplayable.
And now with my Ryzen 5 and RTX 2070 the game likes to stutter every now and then but I am able to play with everything up.

As for the DLC's of the game which I haven't played Ardyn, I think the proper way to play them are after you reach their respectable portion in the main game as it will help you understand what they were doing, or in other words what they were having to go through as you can see part of what shaped their characters after that point Though I still dislike how Noct, Luna, and Aranea had their dlc's cancled as I would have loved to play them .

To speak directly of the dlc's
Gladio had a rather simple one the main differences being you had his moveset and could so special moves, not to mention their hud's are changed to reflect the dlc's. There actually is that much to say for this one, rather then the only thing I didn't like was the big baddies during it are sometimes tedious to fight.

Ignis' dlc is in my opinion the best of the three mainly because on paper he's the best iknow In my opinion his dlc has some of the better/best songs in the game, Primarily those during the big moments, They did some experiments with gameplay here that I thought were both Unnecessary and Smart, because he you get a way around but the "land ownership" part I believe wasn't needed and can if I remember, be completely ignored with no consequence.

Promto had a rather interesting dlc. His really kind of shined on his character in a way that by itself kind of pushes aside the other two and is probably one of the best character builders that I've seen.
This dlc has sidequests but can be ignored, and Honestly aside from the character building this dlc doesn't have all that much, the music isn't that bad, it tries a more "wub wub" with that dub kind of steps which isn't a bad thing, the combat probably isn't the best but my only complaint is at start when you're escaping it kind feels likes its impossible to dodge anything and every missile just knocks you off.

I'd overall give this game, at least a 6/10, I'd love to say 10/10 but the game just is a tad shallow for what it feels like it could be, not to mention how we might never get anything for the game past the ardyn dlc because of a staff member up and leaving with some $$$
