I got this game many years ago and since then I have seen it grow in many ways. I dont mean just adding new blocks or tools that you can use, though that is certainly part of the growth I have seen. When I first got this game, there was no pressurization system or weather, or even planets. The planets are actually a bit of a funny one. For the longest time the devs said they were unable to get planets into the game and the community had accepted that for the most part. Then everything changed when a short video appeared from the devs showing nut just a hand crafted planet, but atmosphere and trees. Now it's kinda hard to imagine the game without planets. There was no way to change your skin, or even a skin system that modders could utilize. There was no scenarios or ladders, no wolves or spiders, no jumpdrives or railguns even. I mean even the UI has gotten ten times better since i first got this game. This game is constantly expanding and growing with new systems, features, and structures. If you like building spacecraft, surviving against a hostile environment, or even just making a giant statue of pacman that can shoot missiles at hostile ships, get this game. It is fun, and more so when you get your friends in on the action.

This really is a great game for anyone who enjoys Star Trek. The space combat feels really good and the story telling is really fun! I have honestly been playing this game for years, mostly off of steam using the Cryptic Launcher. There is a ton of customization options not only for your character, but also your ship and shuttle craft as well.

Edited to further flesh out my deepest thoughts on this game and better represent it:

Star Trek Online is one of those games that started off pretty bare bones in terms of content. It was a passable MMO game with the Star Trek theme thrown over the top. Since then, they have added several new factions with their own unique storylines alongside well written cinematic adventures and hundreds of new ship designs and classes. They have also added many new races and customization options that stretch from hair and clothes to unique skins and effects for your ships and shuttle crafts. Even the ground combat and crew systems have been overhauled for greater depth so that you can truly customize who is on your crew while fighting off hordes of pesky Borg. It truly is a really fun game, whether you play it alone or with some friends.

Hey Tenno,

After playing almost 3,000 hours of this game, I have to say it is a constantly evolving work of dedication. That is actually its greatest strength. The graphics are cool to see, the game play is interesting, and the customization is extensive; but the developers have a level of dedication to this game that I have rarely seen in any large production game studio. They turned a mediocre loot shooter into a massive and deep world enjoyed by millions of players across the planet. That is what has kept me coming back to this game.

Now about the game itself. One of the most important things to realize about Warframe is that it is constantly changing. The developers have no problem looking at even the most basic systems and overhauling them. I believe we are on Melee 3.0 at this point. The point is that even if there is a feature that you don't like in the game, try back a few months later. It may have been patched or overhauled.

The graphics in this game are beautiful. Theres no other way to say it. The devs have been amazing with set design, textures, particle effects, and artwork. They have even gone back and revamped tile sets that weren't as great from the earliest days of the game. On top of that, they keep adding new graphical systems like the new mesh based particle engine. With the recent lighting revamps and PBR textures, it's only getting prettier to look at. On the flip side of that, there are a multitude of graphics settings that can be turned off or lowered to improve performance on less powerful computers. I was able to run this game at 30 frames even after my graphics card died and I had to rely on an old 6700hq processor.

The items in the game such as weapons, consumables, resources, and even Warframes are numerous. The devs haven't stopped adding new items since they made the game. And they make each one feel unique. From the silent SMG known as the Baza to the laser cannon known as the Opticore, each weapon has it's own feel when used to destroy your foes. Each Warframe plays completely differently from the next, whether they are geared for stealth or slaughter. On top of that, the Mod system that allows players to slot in upgrades for warframes, weapons, and companions allows you to further diversify your equipment and makes each item unique to you.

This brings me to the customization. Just about everything can be customized. Want a bright neon pink cat and a brooding black and red warframe? You can do that. But it's not only colors that are available. There is an extensive selection of cosmetics that can be earned in game or bought in the store. You can even change the skin of your landing craft that you see in loading screens and mission endings. If fashion is where you excel, Warframe certainly can help with that.

Over the last few years, the developers have started taking a new direction as well. Instead of only being a loot shooter, they have been adding an arching main story and numerous side stories played through the Quest system. I won't spoil anything here, but I will say that the story is huge in scope and they have somehow managed to surprise players with every addition. It is a beautiful narrative so far with the stereotypes acknowledged and then twisted into something no one expected.

In conclusion, this game is an amazing and ever changing game with a team behind it that loves what they do. I am personally in love with the game and the developers behind it, but I do admit it is not for everyone. Not everyone enjoys the style of sci-fi that it offers, or the fact that it is a loot shooter. I have done my best to explain the things about this game that I love in the hopes that those of you who enjoy this type of game can try it out. Even if you don't think it's the game for you, I recommend you give it a shot and try it out anyway. You just might find that its something you enjoy!

I'll see you in-game, Kiddo.

I first heard of Stardock through Galactic Civilizations II and I have to say, I really fell in love with that game. Now I have Galactic Civilizations III and it has not disappointed at all. It is by far my favorite space strategy game and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys strategy games.

This is a truly amazing game. Now, I don't usually enjoy arena based combat games where the only point is to shoot and kill other people; however, this game has captured my interest every time i load it up. I usually play a 'Pilot' or captain, and I can tell you this game requires communication. That might be what makes it so fun for me, that its more team based than just trying to flank the enemy behind a building. You have to be in constant contact with your crew at the very least, if not the other ships in your fleet. It's a very different experience and thoroughly enjoyable. The graphics are also amazing, which I suppose is always a plus. Another aspect I like is that, even though there is an online store, I THINK you can still earn everything in there as you level up. Now I might be mistaken here, I haven't leveled up very far at this point.

Overall, I love this game. I always seem to get a god crew in random matches, hopefully indicating that the player base is made up of awesome people; and the developers have done, and continue to do, amazing work on this game. Highly recommended.

I have to say that this is one of the better superhero games I have played. I thoroughly enjoy playing it, although I do often get distracted by the sheer amount of customization I can do. And for someone who gets the most enjoyment out of creating something, this amount of customization is awesome. Definitely a game for you to play if you like superheroes. The only thing I don't like is that I can't play as a villain, but thats a small price to pay.
