Terrorizing the street with a broom is not only fun but does not negatively affect business

I wouldn't pay for this game in its current state, but I would enjoy playing it with friends again. It's honestly a fun concept of a game but there are a few things that need DIRE changes;

-The game needs a tutorial. There is next to ZERO indication as to what you're supposed to be doing or how you're supposed to be doing it at any given time. Adding a quick tutorial on what you're supposed to do and how would alleviate a lot of frustrations from a decent amount of the player base. I understand the concept of "figuring things out and discovering the answer as you go", but not when it takes 30 mins and a google search to get anywhere.

-The map structure in this game is very "tiled" and bland. Every structure is just so perfectly square and the boundaries of the map are also perfectly square and are just walls closing you in. It just seems rather lazy and uncreative and makes the gameplay a little boring imo. I would recommend using some foliage or other things to be able to break line of sight considering you can see across the whole map, or maybe even reduce how far the player can actually see.

-The amount of enemies that spawn are very limited, and they don't respawn. I know this seems like a goofy thing to be upset about, but once you kill all the enemies, there's no way to get them back to get more of the drops they can give you if you end up running out while experimenting things in the potion house trying to make the cure.

-The horror aspect just isn't there. Aside from the game taking place at night and there's a few enemies, there is no actual horror. There's really not much of anything. There's no non-enemy NPCs to interact with or anything. And further to my last point, any enemy that is present can't take you by surprise because you can quite literally see across the map and they make a lot of noise. The only things you can interact with are enemies, the shop, things that give you ingredients and the potion house. Outside of that, there is literally nothing else to do in this game. Also not to mention that the combat mechanics are super clunky. I'd call this game a more "action adventure" type rather than horror.

I honestly cannot recommend that people spend money on this game. It felt like a waste of time even when it was free to download. From the lack of tutorial to the lack of horror and everything in between, I gotta give this a thumbs down for now. The whole experience feels like a knock off of lethal company. It does seem like a really cool/fun concept, but they have to at the very least fix the things i mentioned earlier in this review before I'd consider changing this to positive.

It's a fun game with a lot of cool mods but the in-game voice chat keeps breaking and aside from restarting the game, there aren't any real fixes for it and its awfully inconvenient to restart the game between each match of whatever you're playing because that's how often this bug happens. It's been known for years now and is still very present in today's gameplay. Devs need to do better

Devs should've let this one cook a bit longer before releasing. There's so many unpolished areas and mechanics of the game plus it runs rather poorly because it's not optimized very well and the servers have consistent connectivity issues. I will say, I'm not hating because the of reset every few weeks, that makes sense in the way of making space for new players by removing what inactive players built for server stability purposes. But the amount of bugs, janky mechanics and over design of certain aspects of the game can be pretty inexcusable at times. I will list them below:

-Driving too fast will make the world around you stop rendering, so you often have to stop when approaching built up areas or where bridges/buildings are supposed to be and wait literal minutes while the game catches up to where you are and actually renders in rocks, mountains, buildings, bridges, etc. This also means that if you misplace yourself where a building or some other asset is supposed to be/spawns, you end up getting stuck underground until you re-log which is just stupid. This happens a lot, just about any time you use your vehicles which is all the time because the map is massive and running takes way too long.

-Enemies will sometimes spawn inside objects, including built structures in your base (i.e under your foundation) and will break your ♥♥♥♥, especially when doing wave defense to refine starchrom. the game should absolutely be able to detect where a structure is and not set an enemy spawn point there, the fact that this happens is just rediculous.

-Enemies don't always render in before spotting/attacking you. meaning you'll very regularly have invisible un-rendered enemies hitting and killing you before you even have a chance to see them. Not to mention, they also sometimes walk through walls or teleport through floors at random. This makes doing anything, especially solo, rather migraine inducing.

-The buttons to view a certain type of chat and to actually send messages in a certain type of chat are different. So even though you'll click to view world or team chat, you still need to switch where you're typing too or else you'll be typing in the wrong chat, which is just ridiculous.

-The rate at which enemies' levels increase compared to how slowly you level up while progressing through to story is super unbalanced and requires a crazy amount of grinding in order to progress. All in all, you're probably spending anywhere between 3-8 hours of completing side quests, looting and unlocking better equipment to craft just to be able to progress an hour of the mainline quests which is an ungodly ratio of gameplay to grind.

-The in-game currency known as "energy links" is used to do just about anything and everything. You use it to craft, teleport, unlock new equipment, upgrade equipment, etc. Early game this isn't too bad because everything is pretty cheap but in late game, this mechanic is an absolute progress killer. There aren't many ways to get energy links outside of doing commissions in the late game and even then what the commissions give you just isn't enough because each piece of equipment you unlock/craft/upgrade costs THOUSANDS. Since there's a time constraint on how many commissions you can do and have at any given time, there's a rather limited amount of links you can earn and do stuff with for long periods of time which wreaks havoc on any kind of progression late game.

-The building mechanics are very sensitive and janky and almost never let you place pieces where you want to which makes building a base very frustrating and time consuming. Not to mention you have to build the foundation around nature or else you'll have boulders and trees respawning inside your house. If you find a spot with just boulders, you're able to elevate the foundation enough to build over them so they won't be in your way, but there's no way to build exterior stairs unless you use an exploit, which once again, makes building very frustrating. To top it all off, there's no way to actually mirror any building piece that you're trying to place which does put a bit of a limit on the creativity that comes out of being able to build your own base. The worst part about building is that half the time, the controls listed in bottom left of the screen that tell you how to manipulate whatever piece it is you're trying to place, just doesn't work. Want to rotate the direction of a wall, staircase or roof in the proper orientation of your base? Well get absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Have fun just constantly moving the "ghosted" piece back and forth on the spot you want to place it until the game gives you the orientation you want.

-The boss fights are either very under powered and way too easy, or they're way too over powered and require a full team with maxed out gear and still crossing their fingers while praying to RN-Jesus to win. There is no in-between.

-The motorcycle gets damaged doing anything and everything. Turn too much at regular driving speeds? damaged. Drive over an ant hill? Damaged. Stop and get off your bike too quickly? Damaged. I get some maneuvers on a bike would cause someone IRL to crash and damage their bike, but assuming out in-game character knows how to ride a bike, we shouldn't be damaging our bike doing everyday, regular driving.

Maybe I'm being a bit too harsh here but these are some very prominent issues with the game and it heavily effects the gameplay way too often. If the current version with these issues was released as an early access title, I'd be a little more understanding. But the absolute hubris the devs had to call this severely unpolished and bug-ridden game a full release is insane.

That being said, the gameplay is fun, the environment looks great when it is loaded in and the overall story and concept of the game is AWESOME. This game is definitely better when you have friends to play it with and with a few bug updates, it'll fall under being an amazing game in my books. Overall you can't complain too much about a game this quality considering it is free. The game is definitely worth checking out, but do expect some issues that can be mildly frustrating to deal with.

It's a fun game to mess around with when you're playing with friends but if you care about winning it can get a little frustrating lol

Review Updated (22 Oct 2023)

This game is quite good, runs well both in VR and on flat-screen. This game is very well polished with some really cool new aspects that other games don't have (like using voice recognition and built in proximity chat to enhance the immersion). The community is pretty amazing, most people are friendly and are willing to help teach newer players to the game. The only issues I have with it is lack of content & horror...

After playing for 20 hours you've basically done everything there is to do and it just gets to a point where you're just collecting cash and levels and talking to random people in public lobbies rather than actually caring about the game play itself because its so repetitive and slow paced. Not to mention with this latest update, it's gotten super grindy. After a while there's virtually no challenge to the game since you can easily memorise the mechanics and just dominate every contract you play. And to be quite honest, on the horror aspect of this game, its really not that scary. I'm not saying they should put more jump scares in the game or anything like that but more creepy ambient noise/activity would be nice. Like ghosts don't even slam doors or anything crazy, they just flicker lights here and there and slightly adjust the door or ring a phone.

Here's a list of things that needs to happen for this game to improve 10 fold from what it already is:
-A LOT more maps need to be released
-Each ghost needs more abilities/characteristics so the game play is a little more random and unpredictable
-Ghosts need to do scarier ♥♥♥♥ (i.e laugh/talk creepily, scream randomly, make getting killed scarier, slam doors, make breakable objects shatter when thrown etc.)
-Add more models the ghost can be
-Don't let ghost models crawl through DOTS Projectors (its hard asf to see)
-Allow the community to make content via the workshop

I'm now going to elaborate on my final point there. I feel like a lot of good can come from community content for this game because the community is large enough and enjoys the game enough where a lot of crazy cool stuff is bound to be made. We know the community is capable of making really good VR compatible stuff (if you want a list of examples check out the Pavlov VR workshop) so in my eyes there is virtually no reason not to do this.

-Game bugs out and requires you to restart your progress to fix it
-♥♥♥♥ servers
-Inactive AF
-Game favors 1 player to be lucky and ♥♥♥♥♥ over the rest with the dice rolls, community chest and chance
-Can't turn the narrator off
-Can't select different/multiple "house rules" to play by so you can't play like you normally would IRL

In my honest opinion this game is really fun. If your the kind of person that likes a fast-paced fps then you need to get this game. Now there is some pay-to-win to a certain extent, because everything you can pay for you can earn in-game without paying a dime. There are a few minor bugs that could use fixing but that comes with time. If your still on the fence because of graphics then I feel bad for you, your m issing out on a lot here.
