Let me preface this by saying that I have been enjoying the game so far and that generally it has been pretty fun. I do still intend to finish it, but the reason for the negative review is that after Chapter 3 or so, I can only play for like an hour at a time because of a lot of tedious and annoying features/mechanics. I do understand why there are a lot of positive reviews as this game can be incredibly fun at the right moments (expected quite a lot more negative reviews after actually playing the game myself, but don't understand why it's so overwhelmingly positive), but my god those people must have the patience of a saint to overlook some of these issues. I've written a lot more bad than good, but that's only because my negatives were fuelled post rage quit and I have no energy to write the positives. Generally though the game is decent, not amazing but not utterly crap. However, I do still want to keep playing and intend on finishing so that's saying something.

Positives:
- Bancho is a legend.

- Dr Bacon is a top geez. Very enjoyable character to have around.

- Mima is the sweetest ol' lady you'll ever meet. Gives me the feeling of grandma's homemade cooking.

- Operating Bancho Sushi is probably my favourite part of the game (shame its actually also quite a lacking part of the game)

- Insane amount of content and for sure more than anything I expected from this game. Definitely mind blown. Feels like there's always something for me to be doing or thinking about. However, sometimes it would be nice to get some breathing room as everything is just one after the other.

- The story is quite decent, definitely one of the main reasons i'm still playing is because I wanna know more about the Sea people and the backstory of a lot of the characters.

- The game systems can be very fun and I love swimming around discovering new fish as there are simply so many or finding new areas with items and species I haven't seen!

Negatives (In no particular order):
- Boss fights are generally not fun. For one, they're unavoidable most of the time, and half the time you are just following what you think is a random mission only to realise its leading to a boss fight half way through. Cringe. Also, because Dave is some fat ♥♥♥♥, he has the movespeed of a disassembled car, meaning sometimes I just have to get hit. Cringe.

- Stop forcing me into your missions.

- John Watson is annoying af, just wish I could permanently kill him.

- Tired of always running into a hammerhead, tiger or the fast ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ shark with the long tail when I'm overencumbered (this shark was the cherry on top that fuelled this review btw ahahaha).

- Tired of my guns being about as strong as a nerf gun against all these enemies.

- Tired of the harpoon QTE, even against smaller fish down in the depths. Like WTF, its not like those fish are any bigger than the ones in the shallower waters.

- Tired of having every character that Dave meets in the game just hate him for no reason and then forcing him to help. Might have been fun the first time but every interaction starts getting annoying.

- Suwam can suck it. Biggest Dave hater to exist, just annoying af to listen to him talk.

- Tired of the cutscenes. Period. There's just so many and it ruins the game flow pretty hard. I finally go down for a dive and I'm having a blast catching fish to only be pulled into a cutscene that I didn't know was coming. Then losing out on any new fish you may have seen because the likelihood is that you'll also get taken back up to the boat against your will and your whole dive will be over. So annoying.

- Initial village quests are just longggggggggg af. Basically just a bunch of fetch quests all for people that hate you even though they literally need you to save them, kinda weird. Like OK, just die then. Swimming around the village is so long as well until you unlock something that makes it faster, but then you also have to pay for it? WTF

- Bancho Sushi is probably the most enjoyable part of the game for me, serving customers, upgrading and unlocking new dishes, hiring staff. Pretty fun actually. BUT. So lacking it hurts. Once the restaurant starts getting busier Dave starts getting so useless because of the stamina feature, can't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ get to anything cause he runs out of stamina so fast. Like hello??? you're supposed to be the manager? Also meaning that you have to rely on upgrading the other staff because otherwise you'll suffer hard, except it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ expensive to level them up. The wasabi feature is also annoying, there's 3 kitchen staff and you're telling me that none of them can grate some wasabi, meaning that if I don't do it, then no food is made in the kitchen. WTFFFFFF!???

- Tired of never having enough money to buy anything I want, because 1 upgrade sets me back a fortune. And guess what? There's not very many ways to make good money other than through Bancho Sushi, which is only open once a day.

- Hate night diving because of the profit lost from Bancho.

- way too many systems introduced at once after chapter 2/3. makes me want to put the game down cause I cant be asked, especially since right before those got introduced to me I probably just got slapped by 10 cutscenes.

ughhhhhhhhhh........
