I've put a lot of hours into numerous roguelikes. I think what RL2 does really well is finding something to get excited about even in "failed" runs. There's always something you did, whether it was got money & exp to advance your castle, or maybe you unlocked a new teleporter, or unlocked a boss chamber. Little bits of progress everywhere. Perhaps what it does best is the variety of classes you can play as. They mostly all feel good, and while some are easier than others, the cost of doing a run with any character is so low that you're very encourage to experiment.

Postgame is excellent here too. It has a Hade's-like system where you choose how the game will get harder in future runs, which, if you're going to steal form Hade's, that is an excellent system to steal.

Overall had a great time with this. Thought the art style was quite beautiful and the combat felt great. The dialogue / story was charming and fit the relatively simplistic nature of it. Only thing I didn't really like was that I felt a few of the dungeons dragged on a bit. Feels a bit funny to say for a 10 hour game (and as such very minor complaint), but I was always a bit relieved to be done with an area. Boss fights were all a ton of fun though, so the ends to the dungeons were all quite rewarding.
