I am normally not a big shooter fan, but the things I mentioned above make this game something special and keep me coming back.

After 190 hours of game time, I just finished my first playthrough of this game.
To be fair I nearly did 100% of its content. But yeah, it has a LOT of content, if you do everything.

So what is this game about? You assemble a team of people, put them together into units (called unions) and do battle in turns. Depending on who you put together into a union the actual commands they get in battle change and depending on which skills your guys/gals use they level different abilities and stats, which in turn affects which classes they will get into. There are also different formations for your unions to use, which affects the stats of the union.

Well, that sure sounds complicated, but rejoice most of this game is easily beatable by just doing whatever sounds good to you. So you don't have to get into the depth of it if you don't want to, though for me that was part of the fun. It is a really good easy to use but hard to master/really understand type of system.
There are a few optional bosses that are very very hard and beating them may require some kind of special tactics. It feels incredible rewarding when you are finally able to beat them, though.

Does the game have any drawbacks? To be honest the story is kinda "eh whatever", but there are tons of optional stuff to distract you from it. The story battles however are pretty awesome. Another negative point is that a few enemies have really really cheap skills, which can be quite frustrating.

Overall I really liked this game a lot and might even start up a ng+ run of it. Yes, that is a recommendation.

If you are not afraid of a few measly deaths, this is the best game ever.
