It's rough around the edges, with a clunky battle system and tedious city management once you reach 4+ cities, but the visuals, lore, and quests are enough to keep most people occupied for hours on end. The asymmetrical factions are a big enough selling point on it's own.

If you're looking for 4X that's a little outside the box compared to CIV, then this is definitely it, especially when on sale.
