Despite the legion of competitors in what is shaping up to be one of the most saturated genres in recent gaming. TRW does an excellent job of standing out from the crowd.

Its combat and mechanics are fresh and fun, the Art direction is vibrant and eye catching, and each game is an entirely different beast than the last.

My only complaint would be the music as it can tend to be a bit repetitive, but that's honestly the only flaw I can find with this game.

If you want something new and interesting pick this little gem up.

The Byzantine content is pretty great and I love the newest changes to how schemes work. It actually feels way better than "Watch number go up and murder enemy".

These are small potatoes though. The real meat of this DLC is its changes for landless characters. It turns this whole game from a kingdom manager to one of the most fun RPGs I've ever had the luxury of playing. I can become a scoundrel! An Adventurer! A traveling scholar! A Knight-Errant! A wandering conqueror! A mercenary! This DLC opens up the floodgates for so much fun stuff and I can't wait to see how the community uses it to create stories and to see how the modders work with the latest mechanics.

A warning before I recommend you this game outright.

This game is an absolute pinnacle of slavjank. A style of games which I absolutely love, but many people often end up bashing their heads against (No judgement, Slavjank is only for Weirdo Westerners and Eastern Europeans).

If you're willing to ignore its rough edges, its weird performance issues, Unique takes on voice acting, its delightfully Byzantine skill system, and very confusing pricing scheme you'll get one of the best sandbox pirate games available on the open market.

If you're familiar with the old Sea Dogs series and the equally old POTC game then you'll know the drill and absolutely love this.

From Shadows of Doubt to Spacebourne 2 it seems like single man dev teams have been producing some of the best soulful jank the gaming market has seen in a long time.

SB2 is a really enjoyable game in the same vein as Freelancer and Star Citizen (if that's your kind of thing)
My only real gripe is that the audio mixing is a bit busted, but you can fix that easily with some tweaks in the audio portion of the options menu.

It's cheaper than heroin and 5x more addictive.
