Loved it when it came out, but don't bother with it until Arrowhead changes their design philosophy. I like a lot of changes they've been trying to make in the latest patches, but it always, *always* comes with some sort of downside. They seem to follow some sort of zero-sum logic with their balancing decisions.

It's not enough for players to be given something good. It feels like they think if they *give* something to the player, they *have* to take something away. The players are not just allowed to have a win be a win, they *have to* lose something in exchange. Gun damage got buffed? Increase drag (weapon drag is stupid), lower its fire rate, lower its magazine size, or max magazines, or reduce ammo gained from boxes (Or recently, give more ammo per box but reduce max ammo!) ensuring that the overall change to the gun is *neutral*, while the function that made the gun fun is actually removed.

Reduce spawn patrols? More chaff enemies! (This has the unintended side effect of making single target weapons less viable all around) Closer spawning! Patrolling Gunships (Better hope you didn't suffer from Wrong-Loadout Syndrome, cause there's no way to fix if these show up)! Longer detection range! Heavies that *do* show up at higher difficulties are now all bullet-sponge behemoths or something else ridiculous like reduce visibility!

Spawn logic is ridiculously out of control too. Why did I bother clearing out all the side objectives in a mission, removing spawn camps and POIs, if the game is just gonna ramp up spawns and difficulty in the last 10 minutes anyway? Sometimes missions just decide to never give you any breathing room or chance to recover (Not everyone has endless adrenaline). Missions like this make it feel like you're never making progress, like nothing you do makes a difference. It's disheartening.

That's not to even mention the insane amount of bugs that come out with every patch, adding to the already COUNTLESS known bugs they have yet to fix from the beginning. I *still* frequently get stuck unable to move when diving, first person reticals STILL do not actually match where the shot hits in a large array of weapons.

This game can be so, so good. it WAS so, so good. I want it to be again, please. Until then, avoid.
