Early Access Review
Let's be honest. The devs wiping saves each time there's new content is appalling. Going from EA to full release? Makes sense, but it continuing to happen afterwards? No. There's absolutely no point in getting invested in the new content, let alone the game, if your progress just gets completely erased each time a dev sneezes.

One of the best games ever released for the PlayStation. Dad of Boi is a fantastic romp through the world of Norse mythology. The characters are fantastic, the lore is really accurate just with some liberties taken here and there, the world is beautiful, and the story, albeit a bit simple, is a joy nonetheless. That's not to mention the combat which absolutely steals the show. It may not be the hack and slash blood fest the original trilogy had, but it's satisfying everytime you land a hit and kill something. Parrying feels so good once you know how to properly do it and becomes such an invaluable skill based tool.

Sure, it's not perfect. The story suffers from "go here to get this then you can progress only to have to go get another thing", revenants can be VERY annoying to deal with, and even with a super high end computer, this game eats up SO MUCH MEMORY. It would shoot from 29% to 96%. Sometimes even closing because there wasn't enough memory. The framerate would never tank or drop, but there would be times where the game freezes, lags, and the audio screeches loudly. It doesn't happen often, but it was enough to take notice of it.

Would I recommend buying this? Abso ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lutely I would.

Sony, port more games over to Steam, I beg of you.

There are so many bad decisions that absolutely plague this game. Unable to change heroes during a game and backfill are the two biggest ones. If you don't have a healer, that's it. You're ♥♥♥♥♥♥ the rest of the game. Double goes for any roles you don't have filled. No tanks = dead. No dps = dead. No flankers/good flankers = dead. And if anyone decides to leave, they're replaced with a very dumb bot.

And that's not to mention all the bugs that riddle this game. You can get locked into the same screen by accident if you simply get anything is one I run into almost all the time. Only fix is by ctrl alt deleting the damn game.

Oh, and this game is PLAGUED with microtransactions aimed at whales. It is so bad, it makes Warframe blush with envy. Can't even buy every individual skin for a hero, you gotta buy chests that each cost $8 and hope for a CHANCE to get them. That's not to mention the game intentionally locks you out of being able to complete the playable roster unless you're willing to grind hours every day(since the gold drop rate is pitiful), drop $8 on every single champion, or drop $10-$60 to get the full roster.

I get it's free to play, yet this game is nothing but predatory. I advise anyone and everyone to steer very clear of this blatant Overwatch rip off that doesn't even accomplish a FRACTION of things already established in the hero shooter genre.

You want a good hero shooter game that's not an excuse to be predatory?

Don't waste your time or money on this thing. It's really not worth it. Whatever price tag is needed to get in is not reflective on how much the game tries to get you to spend to make the game fun. This thing is full of everything wrong with the modern gaming market and how it has 76% overall positive reviews ♥♥♥♥♥♥ astounds me.

Pros
+If you like wasting your time, and your money, then play this.

+Playing with friends makes things easier.

+Base building is, admittedly, very fun, but it was in Fallout 4 so just get that.

Cons
-The bugs are ENDLESS. Expect things to slide through the ground, constantly assert dominance, corpses launching straight into the stratosphere, and many, many more. I shot down a cargobot and it continued to fly, only to slide through the ground and vanish. I died to a deathclaw, using only a pistol, only for it to drop dead on my body, with no one else around and it being at half health. I brought down a scorchbeast, only for it be launched through the map. Fitting how the event going on right now is called Test Your Metal, cause it's testing your damn patience.

-Gunplay is somehow worse. Bullets will physically hit your target, even showing blood flying, but their health won't go down. Or the bullets will go straight through them.

-Expect to be overencumbered almost all the damn time. This is a kleptomaniac's nightmare, cause it makes you pick everything up but it punishes you for carrying it.

-Can't hoard stuff cause once you're at max limit for your stash, the game tells you to go ♥♥♥♥ yourself. Weapons you like? Break em down or sell em, same with armor. Like grabbing power armor? Can't have too much or that limited space is gone. Everything has weight to it and it adds up REAL QUICK. Unless you wanna pay a monthly fee for an unlimited scrap box. A paid solution for a problem BETHESDA CREATED.

-Everything degrades so damn fast. If you want to fix your armor that helps you with your carry weight, guess what? You gotta drop the same amount of materials to repair it as you would if you were making a new one. Yeah, there's perks to help, but there's not much of a difference.

-Weapons in NPC hands will ALWAYS be stronger than you. I'm not talking missile launchers or tesla cannons. I'm talking pipe pistols, hunting rifles, 10MM pistols, basic weapons such as those. They do more damage to you, with no upgrades, than a fully upgraded sniper rifle to their skull.

-So many scrap pieces are just too damn rare. Remember how in Fallout 4, adhesive was needed for everything? That applies here, but it's now screws, as if the game is trying to tell you to screw yourself for trying.

-Cap rate is ABYSMAL. You will be LUCKY to get any caps from any raiders, scorched, or even legendary enemies. There are many, many times where you will loot dozens of bodies and get only TWO CAPS from it. Yet, everything in the game is very expensive. But don't worry, you can just hoard things and sell them to vendors, right?

-Vendors share caps. It's not individually tied and after you've taken all the caps from a vendor, you've taken it from every vendor in the damn game. Then you have to wait a full TWENTY FOUR HOURS for it to replenish.

-I know the value vs selling value is a different thing, but why does a 381 cap valued item I have drop to 34 when I sell it. Best comparison is stimpacks are worth 74 from the vendor, but you only get 9 in return if you sell one. OH, AND VENDORS DON'T GET ALL YOUR CAPS. A certain percentage vanishes from the caps they can give you. Give them 1000 caps, and they'll only register 653 in their wallet.

-Graphics are somehow worse than Fallout 4. "Sixteen times the detail" my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ass.

-I can't call this game. Everything has a price tag attached to it. It's a walking money sink designed as a game.

-If you want to get a lot of junk, you have to take over workbenches which will alert THE ENTIRE SERVER that you've done this. And when nukes are going off all the damn time, with players able to solo them, it's really not a good idea unless you want your work to go to waste and to die.

-You will spend almost all of your materials upgrading gear and weapons you find, but it's all POINTLESS because within five levels of each other, you have to start all over. You can't take off mods and slap them onto the higher level version. Cause weapon and armor mods BREAK and you can't recover it. So good luck going through the whole grind sane.

-I am convinced so much of this playerbase is just high level bots farming for people, since almost everyone I come across has a name that equals me bashing my head against the keyboard. And honestly, I don't blame them.

I could go on. I really could. This game not only insults you for playing the game, but it insults you as a person. They had four years to fix this ♥♥♥♥ and they haven't. They had four years to make this a good game, and they haven't. But why ever bother fixing it when it's proven that that's not profitable. A monthly membership and premium cash shop rake in so much money, that they don't need to bat an eye about it. And the die-hard fans will continue to go to bat for a company that just wants their wallets.

To the people who say this is their favorite Fallout game, or that Bethesda has really turned this game around, you get what you deserve. Which is Fallout 76. And that says far more about you than anything else ever will.

♥♥♥♥ this game. ♥♥♥♥ Bethesda for putting this out. ♥♥♥♥ me for spending time and money on this thing.

The "fix it later" mentality has ruined games like this. Instead of being an actual good game, with the features we were all promised, on launch, CDPR released it as the mess the world will, and should, always remember it as.

I like the world of Cyberpunk, but this game is a disappointment. It is half baked and unfinished, and no amount of updates can change that. Stop letting developers deliver broken messes, then praising them when they fix their own failure.

A game should be complete upon release, not years down the line.

If you plow through it, it's not too long and Obsidian has done better writing in the past, but it's fun and it's telling of what might be in store for the future. I hope they take this game as a stepping stone for their future products
