This is actually an absolutely incredible arcade racer but they put the Grubhub song in the game and there's no way to remove it from the tracklist so I have a moral and ethical obligation to leave a negative review until that changes.

I honestly don't even remember buying this game. I stumbled upon it yesterday while I was browsing my library, and my first thought was, "How the hell did you get here?" I must've bought it when it was on sale for like, $3, and I can only recommend that you do the same; unless you have a mighty, desperate need to play an outdated 4-hour long benchmarking tool, or you just really, REALLY want to see Boudicca riding a war elephant, for some reason. If neither of those things pique your interest, then there isn't really much reason to pick this thing up.

Early Access Review
This ♥♥♥♥ isn't finished. This ♥♥♥♥ is never gonna be finished. This isn't an "Early Access" title; this game is just straight-up ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dead.

My gripes with this game are minute and arbitrary at best. All in all, this is a fantastically crafted interactive commentary with a few minor issues in terms of presentation and art direction. I don't think the minimalistic character models fit too well with this setting, as they make the conclusion of the game feel far too impersonal compared to what a more realistic form of presentation could potentially achieve.

I'm also going to echo some of the other reviewers and say that you should definitely play as Player 2 first. Honestly, I wish that the player numbers were reversed so that way you'd be more inclined to play that way, seeing as I for one immediately gravitated towards Player 1 because of... Well, because of the number, obviously. As a result, I feel like I was given a poorer experience than I could've gotten otherwise, and I'm actually quite saddened by that.

Defective product. Currently, there's a glitch that turns your gamma super-low in fullscreen mode, making the game utterly unplayable on certain monitors and Nvidia GPUs. As far as I've been able to gather, it's unfixable through normal means, unless you want to use third-party programs like Borderless Gaming or install DLL injectors. (Which can get you permabanned.)

This is likely the result of a recent patch, which is a damn shame because I legitimately enjoy this game and have had tons and tons of fun with it in the past. I can't play it anymore though, at least not until it's fixed. Until that happens, I can't reccommend this game to anybody under any circumstances.

tl;dr - Game's broken, at least for me

Crashes, screentearing, no raw mouse input, horrible fps dips, no borderless fullscreen, broken weapon balance, horrendous facial/body animations, augments that punish you for unlocking them, downgraded patrol AI, clunky hacking controls, clunky cover controls, bullet-spongey enemies and to top it all off, for some reason they brought back a reskinned version of the original energy system from Human Revolution; the one that literally everybody hated. (Okay, it's not EXACTLY like HR's old system but... In terms of its rudimentary construction, it's nearly identical and suffers from the exact same problems.)

Oh, and don't even get me started on the Season Pass. There's literally nothing I can say that hasn't been said already, but... The single-use in-game items are an absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ joke, and Eidos still refuses to backpedal on them for some reason. I don't mind too much cuz I got the season pass at a steep discount, but it's still downright disgraceful.

The gameplay is fun overall and has plenty of redeeming factors, and the main story/sidequests are just as engrossing as you'd expect from a sequel to HR. With that in mind, it is unfortunately inferior to its predecessor in nearly every regard. I'm hopeful that I'll have plenty of fun playing through this game to the end, but Mankind Divided's outright lack of polish, innovation, optimization and intelligent design choices will keep me from reccommending this game to anybody other than the most hardcore DX fans.

tl;dr - Get it on sale, or don't get it at all.

Disappearing textures, horrendous audio quality, cringeworthy dialogue, forced mouse acceleration, 65 FoV by default, regenerating health, clunky cover system, it ISN'T EVEN SCARY and you can only carry two weapons at a time instead of three.

The only good thing about this game is that you can uninstall it.

Early Access Review
The first time I started this game, it blew out the speakers on my headphones.

10/10 I need a new pair of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ headphones.

Pretty solid game, and it's ported pretty well. However, don't be surprised if you end up experiencing some crashes during the Scarecrow nightmares. If you do, turn your PhysX settings as low as you can and that should help.
