Only 6 hours in and I'll say this is worth it. Lot of fun and charm.

I got this game day one of Early Access. I played it on and off, sinking about 100+ hours into it in EA alone. Now that it's out and the hype has died down, I can give my personal opinions.

This is my favorite game. It joins the top of my other adored games. Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines, Fallout New Vegas and FF7. Games I can replay and have fun even when I know the content. Games (except FF7) where you can choose a different starting path and open the game up in new ways.

I didnt get into Divos2 that much, I liked it, enjoyed it, it's a great game, but I never had it among my top. I love the DND universe (a lot of my hours in the game Conan Exiles is playing on RP servers dedicated to recreating DND settings). So if I have a bias, it's to the setting.

The game has bugs. It just does. I had one bug that really annoyed me, but the funny thing about a game like this is I actually found a way to solve the bug on my own, using game mechanics. The bugs didn't ruin the experience for me.

This game is also incredibly fun with friends. If you got 3 pals all with you, and you all are on the same turn order. It's just ever so satisfying for you all to coup de grace a single target together.

I love the characters, I loved the story, I love the feel and look of the world. Combat is fun. Even when you know how to handle a situation, you're free to do it the same way, or decide to try and tackle it a different way. Maybe it wont work, or maybe you do something so dumb and ridiculous it does work.

Lastly, I cried at the ending. Is it the best ending to a story ever? No, it does fall short in places for a finale. But the ending still sticks the landing for the journey you embarked on and made your own.

An absolutely blessing of a game. Thank you Larian, Swen, and all those who worked on it! Love it!

Easily my favorite and probably the best settlement builder to have ever been made. The way it makes each run feel different and gives you reasons to replay is perfect. Excellent game.

I've come a long way since my initial review. I'm not going to write paragraphs. I'm just going to say that as a long term player, there is so much lack of desire to keep playing with how incredibly restrictive the collecting aspect has gotten. I did buy season pass and I would buy the occasional store package, but now the passive game currency is so laughably tiny it really puts my pause on wanting to play.

Yeah spotlight caches are neat, sure, but now I am opening 50 tokens, no gold, 200 credits? They added more variants to the gold shop but reduced the gold flow from collection track? Took conquest reward medals and trippled them because people who did hardcore conquest had to many medals? I play casually, I dont have time to farm 3x the medals for 'this is a feature everyone can obtain.'

Obtain if you have time and don't do anything else.

Disappointing.

I wont do the fancy reviews with the check boxes and all. I will say one thing is I played it with a friend. All in one sitting. The game can be done in less time I am sure but we did it in seven hours. We got stuck a few times and like any medium there were things we noticed and pointed out that the game ignores or forgets in its writing.

Despite that however, I say this game is certainly worth your time! Most of the acting is servicable and there are some performances that are pretty dopey and funny. I am happy that our lead character, Jenks, is played by a man who I am now following; Rupert Booth.

Anywho. You want a bit of a review to chew on. How are the puzzles? How are the clues? Is the FMV good?

The FMV is great! It is a bit dodgy that you can't skip the spacing scenes of Jenks walking to a place. But there is a map that lets you fast travel to a place. And the best part is as we discovered is you can't miss an important scene on your path as you'll get stopped. But keep in mind there are some places not on the main path so you still need some manual navigation.

I was disappointed that as the day goes on they just use a filter for night time. So instead of it getting darker in jolly ol' Edenton, you got Edenton obfuscated with a shiny blue moon. Though with the direction none of the actors are really out of place, but it is a bit funny how you leave just to go back 2 minutes later with 'AND ANOTHER THING!' Ryan eventually takes a sip, or does he?

Figuring out the contradictions is quite enjoyable. You feel good when you do it. The downside is you can't really have two of your suspects contradict each other! That would have made it even better.

Alas. I think this was a great FMV game to enjoy. A fun mystery. I did realize super early on a puzzle piece that was not addressed until later in the game. A bit of a bummer you as the player can't point it out sooner. Either way. 7/10. Worth your dosh.

What can I say about this game? I don't know if anything I write will do it justice. I was gripped. I loved the setting, the detail, the characters. I didn't have a moment where I was having any issues with the voice acting or the direction of the game. It felt great to guess what was going to happen and it felt even better when the game surprised me and surpassed what I thought would happen.

I don't know what I can truly express that will insist anyone buys this game. But all I can say is think of your favorite story, television show or narrative game. Think of all the wonderful things it did and how it meant to you. I am certain The Forgotten City will do that for you.

Nominate it for Outstanding Story-Rich Game! Or even game of the year!

I was feeling a competitve game fever. I had looked at this title before it had free weekend and was curious to try it. Though I was not so eager on the price of $40.

Now that I played it during free weekend, I'm happy that I did not spend money on this. Even with steams refund, I don't think I'd have a true sense of this game in just 2 hours. And while 4 hours is not to much more, I think I got what I needed from this title.

First of all, a lot of the events are plain feeling. Minimal inputs. Most is mashing, mashing management and timing. Then other games you'd expect to have more going for them, like Baseball, Basketball, BMX, etc, just don't. The BMX game itself has a single course. Football and other sports have overly simplified controls. The duration of the games themselves are silly short. Obviously a game trying to be a mini-game arcade wont be as in depth as a major sports title; but it barely feels arcadey either.

The real problem I had was with online. For a free weekend, I was not getting a lot of matches. And the few I got into were laggy. Baseball which I played co op with my sibling was fun. Online it was a slog. Every pitch and at bat was met with a hiccup in latency. I got decent internet and have no issues in more competitive games than this one.

I like most of the customization. It's neat really overall. Though for a Sega title, I feel like the design of the models is more like a Mii experience from Nintendo.

I had fun playing this local co op with my sibling. But by myself or online I was just not feeling it. And a lot of the game is cutscenes you sit and wait through. Which is fine if the meat of the actual game play felt rewarding. And when playing online with others, even when all players voted to skip cutscenes, the game would still sit and wait to finish it before going back to the gameplay.

My last complaint is the amount of games availalbe. For a $40 experience, you get 20 games. The actual Tokyo Olympics has 33 games. None of the new ones were put into this game, and no other older games were added into this title either. For how basic each game feels I think they could have easily loaded this title up with more events and it might have been a better product overall. If at least more worth that price tag they request.

Lastly, there is no campaign mode. No story mode. You can play an olympic event, or play a medley. But you can't do a carreer mode in the 2021 Olympics. Taking your Country to victory. Just really a shame overall.

They do have a nice stats page at least!

Overall. Not a fan. Had just a tiny bit of fun and would have enjoyed something more enjoyable.

If you feel scared off by the art style or graphics or HUD design; don't.

This game is well worth your time!
