dunno why this is mixed reviews. plays well in the first 2 hrs i played so far pretty much same performance as the base game but opening a new exe to play the campaign is pretty jarring but game still works.

people complaining about forced coop only didn't even click on the coop button and try to start a game. they literally list the world record times for solos/teams for every mission. ofc you can play solo the ♥♥♥♥ you complaining about?

how are people complaining about the difficulty of normal mode lmfao
ive only died maybe 2 times (definitely 1) to instakills within 11 hrs

also when you die you literally get deathbox you can open for a full loadout to go again: full clothing, a pistol, stack of 9mm, and some meds

21 hr edit: escort missions are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ terrible, no way of healing them so their 85 hp might aswell just be 0 if they take a single status effect. learning how and when to use stances are pretty important, same as inspecting every enemy to see what they have. the difficulty is good but needs some balance to some aspects (just bs not difficulty). looking forward to the 1.0 release of this game, i can already see it being good
also the game lets you configure the difficulty of the game similar to project zomboid but not to their level of customization.

double edit: ♥♥♥♥ you escort mission, even making the subject stand still in a "safe room" doesn't stop enemies from wandering into the room and killing him. this mission is simply not balanced and there is no possible counterplay from the player like using meds on them.

but tbh C.A.S.T is the worst possible name for a game, it's borderline impossible to find discussion or info on gameplay/wiki for this game

they released a new major order (community mission) to conquer a planet to destroy it with a black hole. sounds great right? HALF THE MISSION. yes HALF the mission doesn't function. the 2nd half of the mission simply doesn't trigger and it's impossible to complete. bugs spawn UNDERNEATH the thing you're meant to defend. I'm serious it's impossible, not a difficulty problem, a bugged mission problem. this all happened before the patch mentioned below was even dropped.

balance team is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ joke and after a whole month of talking about balance changes they hit us with "hey just to be clear this isn't a balance patch".
"don't mean to be blunt, it's just that it might send out the wrong signals by calling it that" BROTHER YOU SPENT THE PAST MONTH TALKING ABOUT BALANCE CHANGES ALONE. like come on that's how you're gonna respond to the community after nerfing the fun? a delayed patch that doesn't even address issues? what a joke of a game

i think they fixed the problems, issues have been fixed for like 2 days now

hit a wall at lvl 20
the wall was the loading screen
30 mins just to try and get into an area for a quest and didn't even turn it in within the 30m cause I never loaded back into town

I really wish I could give this a recommended right now but server issues are still very much prevalent. One upside was that I started the game and lag was so bad I would stutter every 0.5s-1s but halfway it was fully fixed and I started to run smoothly.

I understand that they are being transparent about server issues so I will too with this review. If you plan on fully playing offline, buy it immediately.

Literally all this game needs is a numbers tweak and it'll be great.
The concept? Great.
Graphics? Beautiful.
Gameplay? sticking a rolling dice in your pp hole

All of the below happened on 0 chaos journeyman difficulty with all gold going to 10-20% bonus char.
This game literally works against you 24hrs 10 days a week. The ailments/debuffs are super ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cancer. You're against the imp that can only be hit with perfect rolls? ♥♥♥♥ you take this aoe shock effect that lasts 2 turns that ALWAYS fails 1 die roll making it impossible to kill the imp. Damage over time like burn/poison works on turn ends and in a game where the best offense is the best defense, it just results in you taking tons of unavoidable damage if you try to outpace the enemy. You're against a 80 health enemy? ♥♥♥♥ you take this enemy caster's buff that just added 15 resistances on top of their base 15 armor while you deal 20 damage max at that level. Losing a single turn is the equivalent of losing the entire party, that turn could've killed an enemy before they used a 5 die aoe attack to deal 70% of the middle guy's health and 20% to the other 2. That or they will just use a regular single target attack and just finish off a teammate. Enemy dice rolls are straight up rigged too, I've seen them roll more perfect dices than any other combination while my characters could all attack and either roll too low to go through their armor/resistance or they will just dodge.

If the enemy has an aoe attack and its possible for them to inflict a status effect, it's guaranteed 3 of your members will be hit with it. Scared, Fleeing, and Confused are all the same, just on separate level of cancers. Scared/fleeing is literally exactly the same, you will just run away from the fight making it a 2v3. Confused is stage 5 leukemia, you lose control of your nerves and your character does random ♥♥♥♥ including using random inventory items, fleeing, or attacking a random enemy. Holding onto a 100% hp heal? ♥♥♥ you suck a fart out my as s cause confused just used it. Getting hit with petrified is also pretty much game over for the fight because it turns the fight into a 2v3 for 3 TURNS. 3 TURNS!!!!! There's even a debuff called acid that destroys a piece of equipped item if you con't cure it. The chaos system is cool but it also means you are constantly being rushed to do the campaign or search for cult tiles to lower the chaos. It's honestly manageable but being pushed around constantly to do the quest instead of exploring ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks.

Tanking through the hits are straight up not viable because even the tankiest characters die in 4 turns max because at least 2 enemies will target a single teammate causing them to lose 80% health in a single turn while you are chipping them away because of their high armor/resistances. Let me tell you how armor/res works, when you get hit it just gets reduced by that amount depending on physical/magical damage. There's piercing damage that goes through those defensive values but only applied on perfect rolls (all dices) on certain weapons. So you need to perfect roll every weapon or else you will slowly chip their 80+ hp down with your 5 damage attacks while the enemy constantly barrages you with debuffs/ailments/curses. This is the same game where "84%" dice rolls into 2/4 dices hit constantly, resulting on a block because its literally throwing a wet towel. I really hate the pierce/armor/resistance system because the weapons don't scale fast enough for enemy armor/resistance so relying on perfect rolls to deal any type of damage is extremely volatile in fights. Rolling 3/4 instead of 4/4 is the difference between dealing 2 damage and 14 damage in early/mid game.

It's simply not possible to carry enough healing AND a cure for ailments AND curses. That's 3 items alone and now multiply by 3 to supply each character with one of each. Not to mention most of your gold will go into buying every healing item, healing in towns, and buying weapon upgrades. You can get gold from quests but you will use all of them bringing chaos down so it's not even viable to do one for like 60-120 gold.
