Controls lack refinement, and there are bugs aplenty, but there's a seed of something very very cool here.

Now that Sony has backed down, I'm happy enough to recommend it. It *is* a very good game, but has been subject to extremely stupid corporate decisions and launch day disasters that burned a lot of trust. Par for the course in this dreadful industry these days.

So yes. Very fun game, especially now that everyone who bought it can play it. 4 player co-op against hordes of enemies, while you desperately attempt to call in the sorts of munitions that should put you in the Hague in real life without hitting your team (unless it's very funny, which to be fair is most of the time), for Managed Democracy and Freedom, in a satire of fascism, particularly American fascism, so obvious that you are not just legally entitled to but MORALLY OBLIGED to make fun of anyone who doesn't get it or takes it seriously like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ idiot.

I'd happily recommend the soundtrack if it would actually download, but right now it looks like I've been swindled.

I'm only after completing my first trip into the Zone, but this game has me hooked. The atmosphere is incredible. The music is lovely (although the fact that the jukebox volume is worryingly high and the volume control doesn't seem to work means I turn it off a lot). The controls are crisp. The car handles like a clapped-out station wagon, just as you'd expect. The Zone's hazards are *weird*. The mad dash to the exit as reality collapses around you is thrilling.

This game has the juice. Well worth the price.

Phenomenal experience.

Kenshi is a harsh and brutal world, and your characters are far from special. Hell, most of them start off so far below average that the first few hours involve a LOT of running from malnourished paraplegic bandits because they WILL mess you up.

It's not like Dark Souls in the sense that you can't lose. You can (and probably will) enjoy a lot of total party wipes at the start. But it is VERY Dark Souls in the sense that the only real way to lose is to give up. If you persevere, your characters can come back from almost any setback. And there are plenty of setbacks; Starving bandits, Cannibals, colossal monsters, unreasonably bloodthirsty goats, famine, loss of limb, slavers, fanatical religious bigots, lethal remnants of fallen empires and more are out there to find.

The world is huge and varied, although arid deserts do tend to dominate the continent. Finding a regular source of food that's also safe is a challenge, as the lush biomes are filled with dangerous creatures too. AAt the start you'll want to stick close to the big towns for protection, and you can make easy money scavenging the corpses of bandits that tried their luck against armed guards. Maybe buy and renovate house there, turn it into a little base, and you can upgrade it with research and crafting benches, beds to heal in, maybe a shop counter to sell loot.

At some point though the cities will become suffocating, and you'll want to establish your own. There is plenty of desolate unpopulated land out there, each biome with unique bounties and hazards. Build walls, mount defensive crossbows on the gates, expand your capabilities with advanced buildings, farmlands, refineries, even sophisticated electronics (some of those fallen empires were VERY advanced) Enjoy visiting traders selling you all kinds of cool stuff (and buying yours), repel attacks, fix up and imprison the survivors and tempt them to join your cause. Develop some of your people into master smiths and outfit your best fighters with weapons and armour you might never see on sale in the cities.

Your group can become a world-changing force, with patience and calculated risk. Maybe you'll topple all the factions that endorse slavery? Or finally break the cannibal hordes threatening all societies? Or become the ruling tyrant of your own fearsome empire? To say Kenshi is open-ended isn't really doing justice to the scale and breadths your ambitions can reach.

So yeah, extremely positive recommendation, with the caveats that it is difficult, unforgiving, and a bit janky. It's an astounding game and deserves your attention.

The dev team is literally two people, so the progress towards finished game is, as you can imagine, going rather slowly.

That said, it quickly becomes clear that this game has great potential, looks and sounds great, and the devs clearly are putting in a lot of work.

Definitely one to keep an eye on, at the very least. It's shaping up nicely.

It's quite limited. What's there is good quality, I'll grant you, but there's plenty more music in the game than is presented here, as YouTube will quickly confirm. Wouldn't recommend it unless they add all the missing music tbh
