A lot could be unpacked here.

I've been enjoying the labors of the Gower Brothers, and Jagex for nearly twenty-five years.

From the roots of DeviousMUD, to the sturdy trunk of Runescape, all the way to present day Runescape 3, it's had some ups and downs for certain, and many branches have had to be pruned over time. Looking at you Darkscape and Funorb.
(RIP Arcanists)

But something Runescape has been consistent on is it's dedication to bringing new content to it's game, and while I do not play the game daily, I do enjoy coming back every update for new content, and immersing myself in the score of melodies the developer pours their hearts into orchestrating.

I've disliked some of their choices for micro-transactions, and splitting the player base between Old School Runescape, and the Retail version of the game, Runescape 3.

And I am sad to see many of it's older minigames go untouched by both developer and player alike, the game has plenty to do still and makes for a great idle game when playing other games casually on a side monitor, or watching a movie. It's even good for a quick visit to the bathroom on your phone or tablet.

There is one system I think they've done right over the years and will continue to bring me back which is the diverse magic, from it's multiple books of spells or prayers, summoning pouches, and necromancy in the combat skills, to it's more simplistic gathering and crafting skills such as divination, runecrafting, and invention. Runescape does something unique with it's magic and world that will keep me coming back, til the end.

TLDR;

• Consistent Updates
• Great Music
• Diverse Magic System
