Has its limitations, but as a free game it's pretty good.

Somehow, being a mice and getting cheese is fun. I have played for years now (playing it on the website before I found this Steam version) and I have never had an unfavourable experience. Thanks for keeping this game up for so long, Atelier 801!

Something important to note: this DLC does NOT simply add the day-night cycle. If you are thinking of getting Cities: Skylines, this is a must-have DLC. Not only does it make your city look spectacular, it also adds a buttload of new features.
Oh, and when you do get it, be sure to get the Time Warp mod, which allows you to change the time among other things.

There are so many good things about this game. Supportive and wholly active community, a sprawling asset collection, DLCs that actually make sense pricewise... *cough cough nudge nudge EA*...

Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition (FSX:SE or simply FSX is commonly abbreviated by players) is a simple multiplayer or singleplayer game which falls into the genre of Simulation games, specifically Flight Simulation (if it isn't obvious already). In this game, you fly a plane in real-world terrain and airport layouts with real-time simulation.

Pros:
-Almost never crashes (on my system, anyways. See my system specifications listed below.)
-Real-world terrain, making you feel like you're a pilot.
-(Mostly) functional cockpit, which allows you to turn off engines, taxi lights, etc. There is also autopilot (both IFR and VFR).
-In-flight radio communications with audio in singleplayer. You can contact air traffic control towers and includes human speech (not ugly robotic sounds).
-Multiplayer support. Allows you to interact with other FSX players and plan group flights (commonly called 'hops') between airports.
-Affordable for low-end machines (though I wouldn't recommend it much). You can still play it on lower-end machines and laptops if you can handle lower quality.
-Crashed only on one instance (for me, at least). It's when I open a new window when FSX is simulating a flight. I solved this issue by going into windowed mode (Alt+Enter).
-Missions. To challenge yourself.
-Public and Private Multiplayer. There are public servers, which are listed in the multiplayer window. Some are public but require passwords. There are also private servers, which can be accessed by entering one's IP address so you can play with your friends and without strangers.

Cons:
-LOTS of keyboard shortcuts. You're gonna have to get used to them.
-Can be hard to fly on your first days of flight. In my first days, I forced the turning too much and ended up crashing a lot of times. However, with some patience, you can easily fly a plane.
-Low quality terrain (though solvable with paid DLC). The terrain and airport's terrain are quite poor in quality. Though there are DLCs to solve this, they require money.

My opinions: If my playtime hasn't predicted what I'm about to say, then... here are my opinions.
It's the perfect non-combat full flight simulator and certainly the best one. I love the customizability (if not just a biiit pricey) but either way it's pretty realistic (though I've never been a pilot, so take that with a grain of salt). Multiplayer is smooth and the missions are really well coded and the voice acting is amazing! FSX probably has the best community, both on Steam and on its multiplayer.
I also like how it has Steam's direct messaging service built into it. I don't have to get out of the client to answer messages! Awesome!

Custom-built PC Specs (if you're wondering...):
CPU: i7-4770K @ 4 GHz (OC)
RAM: 8GB Corsair Vengeance LP DDR3 RAM
HDD: Seagate 2TB HDD
GPU: ASUS GTX 660 Ti
Motherboard: MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition
