How in the living hell do the devs think that it's ok to let bullets fly through a THREE FOOT THICK BLOCK OF CONCRETE but NOT a TWO INCH THICK TREE OR THE LEAVES ON IT?!?!?!?!? We're not talking about 50 cal rounds either, which still would apply to THE TREE BEING BULLETPROOF. We're talking about 5.56, 9mm, even a damn BB PELLET would make it through the concrete in this game. Half the god forsaken terrain is made of STYROFOAM.

Pros:
- Nice looking and fluid combat
- Voice actinghas good quality and life to it
- There is a lot of dialogue and story to explore if you're into lore
- Game controls are very much meant for a controller, but using the keyboard isn't that bad since you can customize it all you want
- Loot, Loot, and more Loot
- Great map and navigation
- Fun side / mini games

Cons:
- The combat feels limiting
- Too many collectables
- Not enough outfit options / combinations
- Too much walking
- Not fully voice acted

In terms of compelling characters, it's strong, but it also has the downside of typical tropes. It's very easy to see where most of the characters are coming from and how they developed their personalities save for one character. A character that I think saved this game from being a bit bland. Without Magilou, a character you meet at the start of the game, the other characters and the dynamic would be incredibly bland. Take any of the other characters out and replace them for stone walls and it wouldn't truly matter. Before you learn more of these character's stories, initially it's easy to see what motivates each of them besides Magilou. For me it was sort of that curiosity and the way her dialogue works with the group that made me stick to it more than I would have. Magikazam!

The combat hurts in certain areas that I feel they could have let loose on. Attacks are limited in terms of souls that equate to one attack per soul. It also has a semi-limiting factor of stamina within those souls. While you may have enough souls to perform three attacks, the cost of those attacks may exceed the total stamina you have to perform them. When you don't have enough stamina, your character basically gets countered for a minor amount of damage and you can lose souls for it. While it's good to pay attention in combat, I feel that it's a bit too severe of a punishment for it. In terms of making attacks, I do enjoy the fact you can pause the game and change your combo sets to make use of vulnerablilities, but I feel they made too much o a focus on that. Some attacks feel very fluid and work together well, but may not work on an opponent with certain resistances. It almost nullifies the damage and makes you change yoru combat style.

The story is very straight forward and doesn't take many twists or turns along the way. It's written out pretty well from the very very beginning and doesn't deviate much other than adding on more that you have to do than you initially thought. A common thing to prolong game play. It's compelling enough to see how you will get to your goal that it does pull you in along the way, but if you're not one to really grab onto story, it might lose you half way in. The things that I found to help along the story were the side quests as they weren't actually annoying like in other RPGs. They let you have more insight into the characters and helped you form a bond with them that was relevant to their feelings and emotions. The things that didn't really help with the story was the long time it took to run around the map. You get some speed buffs along the way, but it's not nearly enough to make up for the fact you have to obtain them by walking even more.

I took my time with the game and left it running for some time, but it took me less than 45 hours. Even with doing almost 100% of the side quests and monster hunts, it wasn't that much time to finish. If you were to only play the main story, I'd say you'd get 30 hours or less out of this game.

I posted a review last year and I'm coming back to update once more. RT hasn't updated this game in a year. It's dead. They promised great things and just like every other 3rd party overtaken by RT to control the RWBY franchise it's gone to waste. This game could have been really amazing. There could have been more characters, more combos, more enemies, more areas, coherent missions, and abilities that go beyond the basics. I don't need voice acting to have a good time playing as RWBY characters especially when those voice lines repeat with every single Hecking combo done. Please down vote this game to all hell so RT can see how bad they've done. Stop praising them for taking over a fan made game and throwing it right in the garbage after making as much money from it as possible. I've played this game for so little time and completed it over four times solo. I'm not bragging. It's not something I want to say I've wasted my time on in a grandiose way. I thought maybe I wasn't grasping the full combo system or maybe I was just trying to meta game with the strongest hits, but it's really just that. The fighting isn't tight. The movements are jarring. The enemies have such simple AI. It's lifeless. Without a soul.
