The Orthodox Church is the True Church our Church is our Lord Jesus Christ our God, Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, Have mercy on us.

The Orthodox Churches are united in faith and by a common approach to theology, tradition, and worship. They draw on elements of Greek, Middle-Eastern, Russian and Slav culture.

Each Church has its own geographical (rather than a national) title that usually reflects the cultural traditions of its believers.

The word 'Orthodox' takes its meaning from the Greek words orthos ('right') and doxa ('belief'). Hence the word Orthodox means correct belief or right thinking.

The Orthodox tradition developed from the Christianity of the Eastern Roman Empire and was shaped by the pressures, politics and peoples of that geographical area. Since the Eastern capital of the Roman Empire was Byzantium, this style of Christianity is sometimes called 'Byzantine Christianity'.

The Orthodox Churches share with the other Christian Churches the belief that God revealed himself in Jesus Christ, and a belief in the incarnation of Christ, his crucifixion and resurrection. The Orthodox Church differs substantially from the other Churches in the way of life and worship, and in certain aspects of theology.

The Holy Spirit is seen as present in and as the guide to the Church working through the whole body of the Church, as well as through priests and bishops.

Saint Daniel the Hermit (Daniil Sihastrul)
Born in the 15th century in northern Moldavia, Saint Daniel lived as a hermit in the Putna Mountains, in a small cave he carved into stone. He was the spiritual advisor of Saint Stephen the Great, guiding him before battles and prophesying victories. Through his prayers, the sick were healed and the sorrowful found peace. Although no written prayers of his remain, many still visit his tomb at Putna Monastery, praying for spiritual guidance and divine help.

Saint John of Prislop
Born in 16th-century ศšara Haศ›egului, Saint John lived as a hermit near Prislop Monastery. He was beloved by the people for his pure life and prayers offered for the poor and the sick. Many received healing and comfort through his blessings. He was unjustly killed by a hunter who mistook him for a wild animal. His place of prayer became a site of pilgrimage. Believers pray to him especially for inner peace: โ€œSaint John, guide us to a pure life and a humble heart.โ€

Saint Joseph the New of Partoศ™
Although born in Ragusa (in present-day Serbia), Saint Joseph is considered a Romanian saint for his ministry as Metropolitan of Timiศ™oara. During a great fire that threatened the city, he prayed with tears, and the flames miraculously ceased. He was known for healing the sick, many being cured simply by touching his garments. His prayer was simple but powerful: โ€œLord, have mercy on Your people and deliver them from fire and suffering.โ€ He is the patron saint of firefighters in Romania.

โ˜ฆ๏ธŽ The Eastern Orthodox Church โ˜ฆ๏ธŽ
According to the Orthodox Church , the original Christian teachings and love that were transmitted from Christ's apostles by the Holy Spirit have been authentically maintained. It holds that knowing Christ and partaking in the Holy Trinity are inextricably linked to the Christian faith and the Church.

The foundation of Orthodox faith is God's self-revelation, which is most fully shown in Jesus Christ and made visible in the Church by the Holy Spirit. This encounter with God, not conjecture, is the foundation of the Holy Trinity belief, which holds that there is only one God in three separate Persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). Believers engage in the Trinity via the activities of the Church, particularly the Eucharist and Sacraments.

The Incarnation of Jesus Christโ€”the Son of God becoming totally human without losing His divinityโ€”is equally important. The Church holds that by revealing the Trinity, teaching authentic human life, and defeating sin and death through His Resurrection, Christโ€”the one and only God-manโ€”restored humanity's relationship with God.

The Holy Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are highly valued as a witness to God's revelation and are integral to worship. However, they are considered part of a broader "Tradition," which encompasses the Eucharist, teachings of the Fathers, lives of the Saints, prayers, hymns, icons, the seven Ecumenical Councils, the Nicene Creed, social concern, and the lived experience within local parishes, all guided by the Holy Spirit. The Church as a whole is seen as the guardian of this authentic Christian Faith.

โ˜ฆ๏ธŽ Practices and Teachings of The Eastern Orthodox Church โ˜ฆ๏ธŽ
Asceticism
is the practice of self-denial (i.e., control of one's passions and base impulses) for the sake of the Kingdom. The practice of asceticism - called ascesis - is most often associated exclusively with monasticism, although all the faithful are exhorted to practice lesser forms of ascesis through the Church's regimen of prayer, fasting, and repentance.

The word "ascetic" comes from the Greek root แผ€ฯƒฮบฮทฯ„ฮนฮบฯŒฯ‚, which is turn is from the verb แผ€ฯƒฮบฮญฯ‰, meaning "I train." The Apostle Paul likens the Christian life of prayer and repentance to training for various sporting events (1 Cor. 9:24-27; 2 Tim. 4:7). As such, the methods of ascesis should not be used as ends to themselves, but as means to the end of salvation, the "prize" which the Apostle mentions in First Corinthians.

Some forms of ascesis take a much more austere - even seemingly unhealthy - appearance than others, for instance Stylitism, in which the ascetic stands on a high pillar or tree for a prolonged period of time.

Wrath
"With lack of love comes abundance of wrath"

Why can a man cast arrows of fire upon others without care?
Why can a man slander their brother or mother with vile words, using their deep sorrows as the swords edge?
How can a man hate others who love him without remorse?

"It is impossible for a man to not care"

If a dog is beaten upon and cursed at with loud words, trained to hunt and fight until death, this dog will not know the meaning of a hand rubbing its fur in loving care. The dog will bite and bark lashing out to this unknown concept.

So to, alike the dog, a man with himself and the interaction of others. If a man is slandered or beaten then taught to fight and steal, this man will know nothing but this. When a hand is held out in reassuring love, or a bandage put around this wound, the man will lash out and unsheath his sword.

So, why must we despise these people? Why must we slander and curse them? Hoping for their downfall and utter destruction? Have we seen their sorrow? Have we known their agony by name?

Mankind only seeks love
"What a person desires is unfailing love"
[Proverbs 19:22]

We must not beat down the dog who has only known violence, agony, dispare. We must not curse the man who has been taught only these things. For as Christ Jesus did not let the angels unsheath their swords, yet cast upon the Israelites His body and blood that they may be saved, cured from their festering sickness. We must also do this for others.

"Love one another, as I have loved you" [John 13:34-35]
"Love your neighbor as yourself" [Leviticus 19:18 and Matthew 22:39]
