I went into this game blind, I've seen videos before vaguely about this game and I've heard great things about it but never got around to playing the original. I was eagerly awaiting this remake to be released after keeping an eye on the kickstarter and watching all the teasers and trailers.

After putting in around 30 hours or so and completing the game I can say that this is an instant classic. The game play and overall game design is well thought out and I've heard it's extremely similar to the original also so that just proves that old game design can still work in a modern game.

The level design was fantastic but mainly corridor based with some variation in openness. One drawback which annoyed me quite a bit was the amount of backtracking needed and a lot of linear corridors/crouch spaces which you had to go through multiple times. Things like this could have easily been fixed and improved upon. Apart from these small issues the overall design of the station was amazing and it really made you feel like wanted to explore every single nook and cranny of each area.

The puzzle design was also quite cool. I felt like it wasn't too tedious and actually took a few tries to complete them and they actually made you think. The combat was also fantastic and there is a wide variety of weapons and gadgets you can use as well as skill/equipment that you can upgrade by finding the higher tier version throughout the station. I did find that the key binds for these were missing so if you don't check you won't know how to use them so make sure to bind these. I'm eagerly awaiting the Enhanced edition of System Shock 2 and I really hope they do a similar remake of that in the style of this one.

Overall, I'd recommend to buy this If you're a fan of old school RPGs and great game/level design and you're fans of games like Prey or Arx Fatalis.

Early Access Review
I originally bought this game due to watching a streamer play it and it looked quite intriguing. I've played quite a lot of Factorio and Satisfactory so I enjoy factory building games like those. This game is like a blend of multiple games like Factorio, Supreme commander and Stellaris.

Don't expect to command hundreds of units akin to supreme commander but instead being able to control a singular mech which can be upgraded and build components to construct your factory. Also don't expect to have political intrigue like stellaris, however you can explore different worlds and transport materials from your already created factories to new worlds and start colonising newly found planets to create even more factories.

I'm usually quite hesitant when it comes to early access games, however this game has nearly no bugs and already feels very polished. I'm looking forward to the dev team adding combat and enemies to fight off much like Factorio which should give some more variety to the game. Overall I'd highly recommend this game.

I bought this game expecting the total war series to finally have fixed the problems that plague the other games, for example, the A.I issues, peformance etc but to no avail. They still are not fixed. One of the main issues I have with this game is the performance. We all know that total war games run terribly it's no secret but after all these years CA still don't understand how to optimise and improve a game. My gaming rig is no slouch at all and it struggles to play this game with more than 8+ units on a battlefield.

Furthermore, other than the performance the game is pretty much Atilla but just fantasy, nothing really has improved on the A.I. side of things. It's almost as if CA don't listen to their fans. I've been burned too many times when buying a total war game and I'm quite frankly fed up with hoping that with the next release they have actually fixed the problems with the previous titles.

I won't be buying Total War: Warhammer 2 until they fix the main problems with the series that people have been complaining about for years. Yet CA still do nothing about it. If they bring out more patches to fix these things I'll consider changing my review but as it stands, I can't recommend this game in it's current state.

As a big fan of survival horror games since I was a kid I've always had a soft spot for the first few Resident Evil and Silent Hill games. When I first played Resident Evil 1 back on the Playstation 1 in the 90's when I was a kid I thought, "this game is incredible". After replaying it recently with the new remastered version I had thought to myself again, "This game would be awesome in first person". Once I saw the announcement for Resident Evil 7, I was extremely excited to see RE finally go back to it's root and become a survival horror game again.

After completing the game I can confidently say that RE7 is up there with the greats of the series like RE1. I had moments when playing through the game thinking, "This hallway looks exactly like one of the RE1 hallways and it made me love the game even more. It has some scary moments and it does have some cheap jump scares but those were in the previous games too.

In RE7 you play as a character called "Ethan" who goes searching for someone he knows who's missing and it eventually leads him to the Bayou in Louisana. I won't go into detail but several events occur and you end up having to traverse a mansion/house (you get RE1 vibes a lot in the house) and go around finding hidden items. The actual gameplay of the game is quite similar to the style of Resident Evil 1 where you need to find specific keys for locked doors like the "snake key", "Scorpion key" and "Crow key" etc. There is an inventory management system in the game like RE1 where you have to manage your inventory with a crate which is located in the safe zones and store items which you no longer need. You also can find "chems" around the game which help you craft items like ammo, healing items etc. The gunplay and combat system doesn't feel too clunky and suits the style of play in RE7. You get a varied arsenal of shotguns, pistols, machine guns and knives which all are effective at killing enemies.

If I were to rate this game out of 10, I'd give it an easy 9/10. It's been extremly enjoyable to play, I managed to complete the game in 10 hours. I wish the game was longer and I really do hope they do a sequel in a similar vein. I'll give some quick pros/cons:

Pros
  • Great story and stays true to the series roots
  • Combat and gunplay is great. It's immersive and it feels weighty
  • First Person Perspective is a first for the series and it definetly suits it
  • Inventory management is similar to RE1, is simple and not too bothersome
  • The game is a true survival horror unlike RE5/6
  • The sound design in the game is fantastic and very immersive
  • The games performance is great and runs well on my current rig

Cons
  • The length of the game is too short
  • There could be more variety in enemy types and weapons
  • The graphics look good but they could be better.

I've spent countless hours playing this game. If you don't have this game, I'd recommend instead getting the "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition" as it is basically the same version but has some improved features and include all the DLC too.

'Dead by Daylight' as a survival horror coop game has managed to execute the asymmetrical type gameplay very well compared to other games with similar style for example like 'Evolve' and the 'Left for Dead' series. I played Evolve and immediately did not like the game and I have played my fair share of Left 4 Dead, but neither have captured my interest quite like Dead By Daylight has.

The gameplay of the game focuses around 4 survivors and 1 killer, with randomly generated 'trails' or maps which have randomly spawned 'generators' and 'hooks' The aim of the survivors is to repairs 5 generators for for the escape gates of the 'trial' to open so you can escape. The survivors are only equipped with items like a torch, first aid kit, map or a toolbox. However, while doing this the killer will be hot on your heels. The aim of the killer is to try and stop you from doing this by using their trusty weapon to try and slice you to injure you. Two hits and the survivors are down and the other teammates will need to interviene and help you get back up on your feet. If you are unfortunate enough to be caught by the killer they are able to carry you and take you took a hook, these hooks are spread out across the trial randomly and you will be stuck on a hook until either you get help from a teammate, or ultimately die.

The game has up to 4 survivor characters currently at time of patch 1.0.2.

  • Dwight Fairfield - Skilled at working as a team and has perks which enables the team to stick together and stay alive
  • Meg Thomas - Skilled at being agile and fast, and moving around quietly
  • Claudette Morel - Skilled at healing and uses plants to help enhance her healing perks
  • Jake Park - Skilled at being calm while under pressure

These 4 survivors have unique perks which are specific to each character, the way you unlock these items and perks is a system called the 'Bloodweb' which is essentially a tree of items, addons, offerings and perks which can be unlocked with bloodweb points that you get from playing trials. Each of these items can be taken with you on the trials but if you die, you will lose the item and addons. The offerings are one time use items which can help you, for example. A certain offering help choose the type of map you will join next game, another offering helps increase the amount of mist on trails etc. The perks are permenant and you start off with being able to use 1 perk. As you gradually level up to 15,20,25 you can get 2,3,4 perks relating to your level. Each character levels up seperately so it may take a while to get each person up to have 4 perks.

The killers within the game currently at the time of the 1.0.2 patch are:

  • The Trapper AKA "Chuckles" - Skilled at physical attacks and can use his bear traps to trap survivors
  • The Wraith - Skilled at tracking and hunting down survivors, is capable of going invisible but unable to attack while in this state
  • The Hillbilly - Skilled at chasing survivors, is equipped with a chainsaw which is his secondary weapon, can be charged up and used to charge at suvivors within a clear line of sight.

Regarding the killers however, They do not have items which can be used, they do however have the same type of addons as the survivors which can help with the certain killers primary weapons along with their secondary skills. The killers also have perks which can help them detect and hunt the survivors.

In regards to the balancing, there does need to be some fixes and work done so that the survivors and killers don't feel too overpowered with certain perks.

Overall, I've been enjoying the game and at it's current state I would recommend it. It does need some work still to help balance out all the perks and there are a few graphical bugs. However, it does not impede the enjoyment of the game and it still makes the adrenaline rush when you are being chased by the killer or chasing survivors as the killers.

This game is probably one of the best free to play games out on steam at the current moment. It's a wild western Half-life 2 mod which has an old school feel to it and requires skill. It currently only has two game modes, Team Deathmatch and Deathmatch and two maps. The only downside to the game is the lack of gamemodes and maps, however I have read that the game is still being ported from the old source engine. I originally played this mod back when it was originally released and it had plenty of maps and gamemodes to keep you playing the game.

I'd easily recommend this game to anyone looking for a fun shooter which runs great and is free.

Oh and PASS THE WHISKEY.

DCS World or Digital Combat Simulator is one of the best military flight simulators out. I have played for over 700 hours(this only includes DCS flight time, I've played Lock on 1.0 and FC1 for 500 hours too) and I don't get bored of the series. There is a variety of aircraft and helicopters that are currently out as modules to the game which are sold seperatly. I have all the module and have tried out each and every one. The DCS modules include the A-10C, P-51D, KA-50, UH-1H Huey, MI-8 MTV2 Magnificent Eight and the TF-51D (Recon aircraft, which comes free with DCS world).

Every DCS module has amazing detail and requires you to study on how the aircraft start up and how the aircraft functions. If you enjoy studying things before you try them out you will definetly love this sim. You can also just jump into the cockpit and mess about which is fun but the most fun is studying the sim and getting the aircraft up in the air, then the next step is employing the weapons which is even more fun. There is a module called Flaming Cliffs which is a good module for people who don't enjoy much of the study aspect of flight simulators and they can just jump in and hit a few keyboard buttons and get the plane started in less than 40 seconds.

The F-15C (New Update introduced the AFM (Advanced Flight Model) which makes the aircraft much more realistic), SU-27, SU-33, MIG-29A, MIG-29S are the flaming cliffs aircraft, these aircraft allow you to perform CAP (Combat Air Patrols), BARCAP (Barrier Combat Air Patrols) etc. Whilst the DCS: A-10C can be used for CAS (Close Air Support), FAC (Forward Air Controller) etc. Each aircraft in the game as shown above can perform various tasks but you also need to know the aircrafts limits in what roles it cannot perform, This will help you not get killed!

Overall, I Highly recommend this game if you enjoy military flight simulators and enjoy learning about how aircraft operate and how to use each aircraft weapons systems, Navigation systems etc. If you don't like the study aspect as said above you can just get the Flaming Cliffs DLC and hop into one of the faster jets and shoot some unlucky bastard down.

CS:GO Review
Counter Strike: Global Offensive is one of those games which you can jump straight into and have fun. The game is pretty much CSS but with upgraded graphics, better balance and casual/competitive matchmaking. It improves alot of what was missing in CSS and includes new weapons, maps and a new matchmaking system which tends to work most of the time. However I have experienced problems with finding matches with people of the same rank/skill and you do get the occasional idiot who doesn't know what hes doing or is a blatant troll who can ruin a game or two.

Apart from the odd bug and matchmaking problems, the game is solid and will not dissapoint if you are a fan of counter strike. I recommend the game, give it a shot and you won't be disappointed.

The best game I've ever played. It may be old, but it still to this day has great gameplay and one of the best storylines, which can only be rivalved by its sequel Half-life 2. I highly recommend this game.
