I loved this game on its own right. Not really an X-COM 3 (i.e. true spiritual successor to XCOM: UFO Defence, or XCOM: TftD), but it was similer enough to still be interesting. While I found UFO: Extraterrestials to be a much better "XCOM 3" game, and don't really see the new XCOM: Enemy Unknown as a true successor either, it was still fun for what it was - kinda more cyberpunky (flavoured a bit like Syndicate was) than the original two XCOM games. I liked the idea of alien hybrids being the ones with the best psychic powers, and androids instead of tanks on missions - but many different kinds of land and air interceptors to use when shooting UFOs down. Pity about the weird colour conflicts that make some of the in-game writing hard to read (a bit like UFO: TftD)? I think I remember the GOG version running better while using manual DOSBox

Who can go wrong with magic ninjas in power suits vs marines, zombies, and robots? You can have multiple suits (each with their own powers) / guns / melee weapons going at the same time, somewhat supportive community, still growing... Great if you want to try a different F2P game, but it does get repetetive quite quickly, if you don't have friends to play with

I highly recommend this if you liked the original XCOM games! I see this game as a more true spiritual successor to XCOM: Ufo Defense (otherwise known as UFO: Enemy Unknown in Australia), and XCOM: Terror from the Deep. It's not just lasers and plasma, but there are multiple levels to alien tech - and the humans, once they have researched them all, come up with their own one, which is even better. Aliens get progressively more difficult, which makes a really long campaign really challenging and rewarding once you get to the end. I just found the new XCOM: Enemy Unknown was a bit short, and much more cinematic - great game on its own right, but not really a spiritual successor to the original XCOM games

Reminds me of Warframe but piloting ships instead of running around as a space ninja. You can get up to 3 ships at a time, from a list of many, fully upgradeable and customisable, PvP or PvE. Great fun, looks like it has a great community, still growing... Got a little repetetive for me. Wish there was more of a storyline?

Novel fun at first, surprisingly addictive, interesting twist at the end

Looks great, but doesn't run well on my crappy i3 laptop (probably because GPU shares CPU's memory)

Very challenging once you get into the Adventure Mode maps. Just surviving winter in Survival Mode was hard enough, until I got the hang of it. If you struggle a lot at the beginning, there are plenty of guides (and mods!) to help you.

Cinematic 2D zombie apocalypse platformer in a 3D world (they call it 2.5D) - really great!

I have found TF2 is almost as good a place to start out in FPS as Warsow. The community is supportive, and advanced players can find it a challenge to work with a team of noobs (as long as you find some that are not stubborn and at least listen to your advice). I love the option of coaching (or being coached by) others. Mann vs Machine was a totally unique game type pioneered by this game and an awesome way for a team of 4-10 players to pit their combined might and teamwork against a horde of robots / zombies - some of the levels are near impossible (esp. wave666)! The game has been around for a while now, but is always evolving, with plenty of active players in Australia and overseas. As I mostly play MvM, I don't have to put up with all the pretentious show offs on PvP, and have a great cadre of mature players that love to have fun but enjoy a challenge on my friend list. If you don't have it yet, get it for free and make sure you indicate that it was me Rusty | SkyPaladin that shared it with you!
