I have 150 hours in Rain World, and beat both endings for The Watcher in about 11 hours. Rain World is my favorite game, and I love Downpour for the same reason. But The Watcher does not feel like Rain World.

The way you get around in the DLC feels very random. This is fine at first while you're still exploring, but when you need to get to specific regions for both of the endings, it starts to feel more like gambling. And this is made worse by the lack of direction the game gives you. At times you're just aimlessly wandering around in hopes you find something. The world also feels disjointed in this way, lacking any sort of structure.

And that's a shame, because the best part of The Watcher are most definitely the regions and creatures that were added, which are both amazing. The regions look stunning, and are for the most part fun to explore. The creatures are unique, and generally act differently from existing creatures. However, unlike Downpour, which added features, regions and creatures to the other campaigns, The Watcher is entirely self-contained. I would love to be able to explore the new regions and meet the new creatures with other Slugcats, but as of yet that is impossible.

I appreciate the unique approach to The Watcher, but as it stands it is very lacking. As updates are planned, I hope that many of them will fix the bugs and issues with the DLC, and give more direction to the player. And above all, I hope that the (eligible) new regions and creatures will be connected and made accessible for other Slugcat campaigns as well.
