Pretty fun, probably most complex game I've played in terms of how much you have to/can learn to get a basic sense of what's going on as presented to you.
Unironically learned a lot about history from this game, I guess a lot of overviews and tidbits that you can do more in depth diving into if you're interested. First time I heard about the Thirty Years' war, or what a Manchu is, or what a Holy Roman Empire is from this game, or how to ship slaves and create an Atlantic triangle.
The map is beautiful truly, game takes on an epic feel if you get really immersed into it. Soundtrack helps with that.

I remember my first Great War against the Ottoman Empire as Spain. Hundreds of thousands of soldiers on each side's coalition in the mid game. Multiple attack points and fronts, attrition, money and population-bleeding. I didn't really know the deeper mechanics of the game at that point so I really actually had no idea who was gonna win, I just built up as large an army as I could and tried to rope in as many allies as possible to match Otto's strength and size on paper and let loose the dogs of war because I was afraid he would become too powerful if unchecked in his upwards trajectory and that was the make-it-or-break-it point. I did win and that was probably the decisive point of the whole game as no one else could challenge me after that point. So yeah like all strategy games against the AI I suppose there's the problem of difficulty and dynamism, but it is what it is. You could pick a small country or do some specific challenges if you want more of a skill test.

I only played three games actually and have 300 hours in it. One as Spain, one as England and one as Brandenburg.
Side note uh I think you should look out for deals and bundles for this game on other websites because the steam page is showing me it costs like $200 for everything now? I remember I got it from the epic games store during an event or sale and paid like $20 or less? cant remember precisely.

I don't know why I grinded this out.
On the bright side I now know the difference between Astatine and Antimony (Can you guess which is symbol At and which is Sb?) in name.
One of the tricks is pixel pinching to fit like 9 extractors within one element ( or was the limit 8? I can't remember).
My favourite name is probably Promethium or Neptunium or Tennessine. I also know things called Lanthanum exist now apparently. Or... do they? Hopefully you don't get to meet one in real life because I heard they can turn your balls to stone.

Probably one of my favourite and most memorable games of all time. With mods you can really go crazy.

I can taste blood in my mouth. I can hear Daud's voice in my ear. These eyes were closed for centuries, and I saw... everything. Bound here, I walked through the minds of generations. And now...

Nice game, maybe not as fun or pretty as 2 but still nice.
You play as Billie Lurk this time, with a new set of abilities and toolkit. Less lethal and combat based abilities but you can telefrag people this time...
Includes: Charging up arrow shots, sword that lets you swing energy blasts at other people, non lethal grenades, amongus ability, astral projection, seeing a silhouette of yourself writhing like a zombie😯(when you lay down checkpoints to blink to; also side note traditional blinking is still available). Stone golem monsters, stink bombs, a bonecharm that lets you create a shockwave when you land... like a big guy squeezing inbetween 2 other guys into a train seat... no offense to big guys.

This is my first Battlefield game so I don't know how it compares to the rest.
But atmospherically it's quite amazing and impressive to me.
Buildings collapsing around you, sprinting around the battlefield under fire flinging yourself into trenches at the last moment. Desperately trying to set up a rocket launcher on a ledge support in the corner of a dilapidated building hoping no one notices you so you can take out an enemy tank squad rolling through the streets below, even the recoil is impressive and it feels like you can really notice the weight of the shell you fired since you can literally see a glowing thick white shot soaring through the air followed by a small explosion, debris cloud and smoke plume.
There are a variety of maps which slant towards different kind of playstyles. There is a jungle map with no vehicles which I feel reminds me the most of call of duty 4 which ive also played before. Since it then becomes a lot about small arms fire, running around taking cover, aiming, camping and tossing explosives and other individual special equipment. And mortaring. Shotguns, bipoded machine guns, self-loading rifles, bolt-actions, carbines etc.
There are also huge desert maps which open up the space for aerial combat (which can have quite a steep learning curve) and land bombardment.
Medium sized maps with sand dunes and cliffs which enable severe sniper gameplay, and only having light-medium land vehicles focuses the weight of the combat on a lot of front-line pushes and friction and sustained attrition, with the occasional flank by a determined and skilled horse rider.
Of course the muddy and grey trench maps, potholes, dead trees, ruins after what I can only presume to be weeks of bombardment. The poppy fields, wheat fields, winter maps of the russian revolution and austro-russian front.

Much fewer hackers and cheaters nowadays. In Asia there will sometimes be a few alive official hong kong servers depending on the maps in rotation, but the more reliably populated ones will be the community Japanese servers.

The great thing about this game is that it lets you roleplay as some kind of martial arts-demigod as you go around seeding the fields of whatever in-game universe you choose to play in with the blood and bones of your 'enemies'; some of these guys will be barely-clothed peasants and looters which really give you the feeling of blending cold steel with raw vulnerable flesh as you slice and stab through them, even with your basic starting level of fighting skills and weapon proficiencies and standard issue pig-iron shiv or rusty sword; some of these guys will be knights clad in full plate whom your attacks will just bounce off of without dozens of hours of levelling or upgraded gear first. Some of these guys will be very menacing chads who somehow manage to heave an axe into your forehead from 20 metres away one-shotting you as you eagerly try to kickstart the flesh moshpits which are both a bane and boon of this game, but trust me you'll probably be pretty impressed with this if it does happen.
Now I know different mods have different parameters and ways of dealing with damage and armor points. I usually play the ACOK mod because I'm a fan of the asoiaf universe, and most of the stuff above is more relevant to that. In native I believe the highest-tier armor is actually comparatively less protective than in ACOK, so you will still be able to damage knights even in the beginning.
There are several combat playstyles you can develop your player character around. I guess the most straightforward one would be to aspire towards becoming a knight-like creature on a warhorse, both of you encased in steel plate, shield in one hand and sword in the other in a perfect balance of offense and defense. Personally I've had fun with a more lightly armored agility and athletics focused character armed with just a long(ish) spear, you can really outrun and outmaneouvre and outreach most heavy goons this way, and have fun poking away at them while remaining flighty at a just-out-of-reach distance. Of course this does leave you vulnerable to arrows and getting mogged by horse guys.
Also you can just be a horse archer, this is like the warband equivalent of skyrim's stealth archer, once you get to a good level you can one shot or two shot most guys while riding around to get them from an exposed angle, and shooting down the horses of any one chasing you.
The combat is really fun once you get the hang of the basic skills. I'm pretty sure there are a lot of nuances and intricacies hiding beneath something that looks simple at first glance. Feinting, chambering, kicking all exist and can be employed even against bots. One thing that seems to be more dynamic and flexible is weapon matchups actually, since each weapon has its own range and swing speed, when you combine this with the weapon proficiency rating of the character, direction of attack, rotational delay/acceleration done by moving the camera against/together with the direction of the swing, and the actual bodily mobility of each of the two combatants, you can create some interesting situations especially in multiplayer (admittedly I haven't played much of this though). You could, say, end up with a situation where one guy can relentlessly close in and rabidly swing without much concern for blocking at all because the other guy's weapon is so slow that he wont even be able to manage a counterattack even if he successfully blocks each swing because by the time that happens the next swing is already coming again. Alternatively taking off all your clothes and equipping a greatsword longer than your opponents weapon means you can really deploy the juke and flail and kite tactic to its fuller potential.

Multiplayer is pretty crazy and I wish it were more active than it is.
