Rimworld is not a game. Rimworld is a story generator. Sure, the goal is to get offworld, but that's not really the point. The point, my friends, is how you get there. Do you wanna run a small township fueled by (in this case perfectly legal) drugs? What about (still legal, but gross) organ harvesting? You could absolutely run your entire economy on human leather hats and carry on with your happy day.

But this isn't just about the economy. It's about the trip. How far are you willing to go to save a pawn you love? Would you sacrifice your entire settlement? What if they die anyway? Reload the save? Or are you the kind who feels that Losing is Fun?

Really it doesn't matter how you play. It's all drama in the end. Drama you help unfold, and hopefully, just maybe, drama you help your little crew triumph over.

So would I recommend Rimworld? Absolutely. 600+ hours, and many, many stories later, I'm still playing, and if you like colony sims, resource management, and incredible storytelling that you have a direct hand in, you'll keep playing for years too.

Civ V. What can I say about this game that hasn't already been said? I don't know a single person who hasn't at least heard of the Civilization games, and there's a good reason for that.

Firstly, the game is one of the most prolific XXXX games out there. As a matter of fact, it was the first.
Second, the game is pretty easy to get into. It holds your hand to teach you the rules, but when it lets go, you're neck deep into a somplicated and completely incredible game.
Third, the game is just fun. I lose almost every game, and yet I'm still satisfied at the end because I had fun doing it.

There are some issues with the game. Not major ones, mind you, just something I find to be a bit of a pet peeve. As a matter of fact, it's something we all know about.

The AI cheats at higher levels of difficulty. I'm not joking, the AI gets huge buffs while the player gets huge debuffs, and the AI gets a boost to research so that by turn 100 they have medeval tech.

It's annoying, but it's not something that turns me off the game. Oddly though, that's my only issue.

In general, Civ V is a great game, and it's something I'd look into getting if I didn't already have it. Recommended? Definitely.

Ever wanted to delve into a dungeon and loot everything without the hassle of spending stat points, and coming up with a class? Then Dungeons of Dredmor is for you. You start the game by picking seven skills, all plainly described, and then you enter the dungeon to kill the boss. Sounds easy, right? Wrong. The game is forgiving, to a point. On the first level of the dungeon, you can make mistakes. Go down one floor though, and you will be eaten alive, spit out, and then have your brain sucked out with a straw.

Combat is simple. Click on the enemy, and you attack. None of that "Attack: Spin Dash: Slime A" bullcrap. You can cast spells with a right click, and here's where it gets trippy. You cast them, and you don't miss.

It's rare, if ever, for a death to be the fault of the game. You missed with your crossbow because you aren't that great at using them. You got blocked because you're not that strong. You died, because you stepped into your own AOE spell.

Get this game. It's good.

Uplink is a hacking simulator. First off. I know. Hacking? Really? No, this is some good stuff. I didn't think I'd like it as much as I do, but nothing feels more epic than sitting in front of the game and pretending that I'm actually hacking into these databases.

I'm not gonna lie, the game starts out hard, and then procedes to get more difficult. It's almost as though the tiny world contained within the game evolves with you, and becomes more intelligent really quickly.

I typically wouldn't reccomend a hacking simulator to many people, but Uplink is good. Anybody can sit down and play it with a minimal understanding of how to use their computer.

Knowledge required? How to use your mouse, and how to type. No coding, just your name.

Uplink? It's good.
