One of the best narrative experiences I've had in a while. I find it rare that games in particular make me cry compared to other mediums, but this game really hit hard. Will definitely carry it with me for a while. A must play.

Why'd you have to go?

I'll start by saying i've had multiple issues with the PC version of this game. You can't put the game in windowed mode unless you download an external application, which I was forced to do because the game kept starting on my second monitor.

The review I'll be writing however, won't take that into account (even though it probably should).

Sonic Generations is one of the better 3D Sonic Games, as many people will tell you. But that's where the problem lies. It is good for a **3D SONIC GAME** not for a regular platformer of this genre.

The game's main story is only about 5 hours long, and that's as long as it should be to be frank, because the gameplay barely held up that long. There are roughly 3 levels in each section, a mini boss, a boss, and a bunch of challenge missions. Each level actually has 2 parts to it though, one as 3D Sonic, and one as 2D Sonic. Now you may be thinking, WOW I GET TO PLAY MORE OF A 2D SONIC GAME? COOL! But sadly those levels are nothing like the original 2D sonic in terms of design, feel really janky, and are typically only ok at best aside from a few gimmick stages.

The 3D sonic stages on the other hand can be quite fun, and have there moments, but of course there's always the jankiness of controlling Sonic that comes packaged in every game. Something that was probably not as bad when the game came out, but this is 2018 when I'm writing this, and let me tell you, it's janky as **hell**. Not Sonic 06 broken janky, but like something feels off about controlling sonic janky. (Especially the boss fights.)

The challenge missions are pretty much all bad and not worth playing more than you have to, to get the keys needed to open the boss gates. The bosses themselves are as weird and janky as you'd expect of a 3D sonic game, especially the last one. The overworld was also weirdly designed and a chore to move around when you need to get to certain challenge missions.

I could go on and on about more things that I didn't like about the game, or that the Casino NIght DLC is just a pinball machine, or that everyone who likes this game just has nostalgia goggles on, but this is a steam review so I don't wanna spend more time on it than I already have.

Overall, Sonic Generations has some pretty levels, some fun 3D sonic parts, some mediocre 2D levels, and bad everything else. And where I come from, one redeeming feature is not enough to reccommend it to someone. Thanks for reading.

While this game isn't any where near deserving ofthe Horror tag, or very story rich, it is a neat little cave dwelling light creating experience.

A very intelligent, very enthralling game that takes you for the most heart throbbing ride you'll ever experience. 10/10
