I will be completely honest. I wante badly to like this DLC. But it is really hard to like it when i didn't even notice entering the DLC, and by the time i registered that i was in the DLC, it was over shortly after. This is not a "DLC"... its a 30 bucks cash grab, and should rather be a "creations" release. In fact, this should be named "side quest: investigate va'ruun". I wish i could unplay it, as it feels like my time was stolen from me along with my 30 bucks.

Early Access Review
Simply astounding for an Early Access release. Rarely is an early access so full of content and fulfilling gameplay, and i have yet to find any bugs. It really already feels like a finished product. And as i loved the building aspects of Ark: survival evolved, this just hits home with its base building mechanics. super satisfying, and i look forward to more complex buildings in future content!

Some downsides that i would have to note, is that it is pretty common for people to grief / troll by boxing people in or boxing entire bases in, and some items are ridiculous to farm (im looking at you glass.).. but otherwise, playing with a few friends makes this game super fun.

A little bit buggy - but none the less a fantastic game. Much better than TLoU2.

Let me preface this review by saying that I don't have a lot of experience in this genre outside of the civilization series which I have played since Civ 3.

With that said, I absolutely love and adore this game. In short;
Pros;
  • Great gameplay.
  • High replayability.
  • Very interesting tactical combat.
  • Very good MP.
  • Easy to get into.
  • A -lot- of customization.
  • Fantastic graphics and beautiful music.

Cons;
  • Can turn out to have very long games.
  • Unfortunately not that many people in MP.
  • A lacking tutorial.
  • And the AI is relatively easy.

Age of Wonders, in a nutshell, is a series that combines the best aspects of a Civilization game, with the best aspects of a fantasy RPG, in the same vein as games like Dominions or Might & Magic.

Great empire management combined with a deep and complex tactical combat system makes this game a must have for fans of Heroes of Might and Magic and Fallen Enchantress or Warlock. It stands out in portraying a highly detailed and breathing fantasy world, it's lethal and thrilling combat and enchanting music score. The sheer number of units, abilities, spells and maps (thanks to a random map generator) makes this a game that will be played for years, decades.

And there is just so much to do each turn in this game, so many armies to manage and cities to build. The gorgeous world is waiting to be explored and the various monsters are ready to do battle. All of this is paired with truly wonderful tactical combat. There are just so many different ways to approach combat that it's dizzying.

I would recommend this game to anyone. If you're a fan of the series, definitely check it out. If you're not a fan, go ahead and check it out anyway.

First of all, I will be basing this review on my personal preferences / computer setup
( My setup [i.imgur.com] ).
That said;

I find it important to realize that game size makes a huge difference in how efficient this tool will be to you based on the amount of RAM you have. For example;
If you have 8gb of ram, you may dedicate approximately 3-4gb to a ramdrive (a dimmdrive), and you could easily load up say.. Ragnarok online (1) entirely, because the total size of it is 2gb. And for slower PC's this makes quite a lot of difference in loading times especially since RO1 has tons of loading screens.

On the other hand i see that many negative reviews sit around with SSD's and a next gen graphics card.. Obviously it wont make a huge difference when your setup is already handling the data with rapid speeds, but know that even with a monster computer you can still make huge differences in loading times! See below.

If you are like me, and play skyrim / fallout with tons and tons of graphics mods and other mods, then this tool will make a huge difference in the loading of said mods no matter how beast your computer is. Personally I've had loads of joy using this tool for that purpose alone.

So all in all, I would reccomend this game to everyone that:
  • Want to run already slow-loading games faster!
  • Does not have the money for SSD's!
  • Have decent (non-monster) computers but want a speed boost!
  • Make renders in Maya and similar heavy req programs.
I would not reccomend this for people that;
  • Only play solitaire
  • Already have good loading times
  • Does not know what RAM even is.
P.S. Do not base this review on the time i've spent on it in steam. I just now got the key for steam.

Anyways, I seriously urge people to try this tool out, and see how it can benefit you best! I love it!

//First review, be gentle!
