Game has been stellar ever since the early access release several years ago, all the way up to the (mostly) polished state it currently sits in. Devs really seem to believe in their product and treat it as such

Fantastic game. Good devs. Unfortunate publishers.

Wow. This is bad. Here I was thinking maybe they'd combine the games (or at least the maps) together for a much better multiplayer experience, and maybe they would streamline controls and options a bit better, but no. You cannot even change your mouse sensitivity in the menu. Feels like I've put original game through an upscaler and nothing more. Plus official servers are so horrifically laggy that it straight up isn't worth playing on them - and they're the only servers with people on them in my region.

Boltgun answers the important question of "what if there were daemons other than nurglings and bloodthirsters to kill in 40k games", which makes it a 10/10 in my book

I'd probably give this a neutral review if it would let me

The story is great, and I'm really enjoying playing through it for the first time with a mouse and keyboard (tried on the PS4 years ago but I despise the PlayStation controllers). The game has only crashed twice for me in almost 9 hours - once during the very first five minutes, and again in the sewers. The graphics are pretty good (running at 4k on a 5800X/3080).

The main problem I have with this game, is that it is very clear to me where it came from - the PS3. This game has extreme consolitis. Extremely small environments book-ended by loading screens that are then cut off from you, so you cannot go backwards. Also the fact that Sony decided to release Part 1 now, and Part 2 later, instead of releasing them both at the same time as a bundle. Otherwise these are relatively small, personal complaints and not indicative of how the game itself is, which is quite good

This game has not only delivered on the expectations I had for it, but it has thoroughly smashed through them. I am going to set up a trust so that in the event that I die, my estate keeps buying Fat Shark games until the money runs out

IN THE GRIM DARKNESS OF THE FAR FUTURE THERE IS ONLY BORE.

I would give this a neutral if I could - the game is not bad and I was enjoying it when it was new, but it seems like a slog to get through it, and I've read all three Jaq Draco books. If you're a huge 40k fan, this game will likely keep you entertained for a while, but if you're buying it because you like shooters and dystopian futures you might find it not up to your standard.

Pros:
-The guns look, sound, and feel good
-The level design is mint
-The soundtrack is great
-The atmosphere is almost exactly what I would expect from a hive city
-Additionally the huge open areas with ancient controls that move a large object are extremely well done

Cons:
-Story is barely held together - though it isn't BAD, it's lower quality than expected.
-Side missions for reputation are just....awful. Who wants to be hitscanned by 30 enemies all wearing personal shields? I sure as hell don't.
-Lore is inconsistent: why does a single hive gang have more personal shields than the entirety of the Astartes?
--The PC really shouldn't be able to sling around a heavy bolter, but I understand that one's for fun purposes. Enemies with shields in the dozens doesn't add fun, it adds rage.
-Game gives you too many weird special abilities and a very crowded keymap
-Your poor doggo after you turn him into a cyborg :(
-Voice acting is so-so

Actually pretty good, but my negative review is because they REFUSE to implement oceanic servers. They refuse to implement oceanic servers because "there aren't enough oceanic players", but there aren't enough oceanic players because they refuse to implement oceanic servers. You're owned by Microsoft now, harness some of their f-ing servers.

If you live in NA or EU this review doesn't apply, the game likely runs fine and is very fun - especially with a good guild.

My old review simply stated "pennis & also d cke & balIs" but now I feel like I have to defend the game from the viewpoint of someone who spends 95% of their time actually playing the game and not in the menus, screeching just about the UI being dog ane.

The new map is amazing. The new guns and changes to how bullets work and including bullet drop is amazing. Headshots being instant kills at any range is amazing. Increasing the speed of how games flow, by changing burning mechanics and buffing certain traps is amazing. Differences in how sound travels ingame is amazing. The new prestige system is amazing. Including DLSS and FSR is amazing. New accessibility options are amazing. Changes to shotgun spread and distance is amazing. I could go on forever basically. The devs who are in charge of maps, gunplay and mechanics surrounding playstyles are top tier. This is the peak of game programming right here.

Now, for my complaints. The new UI kinda sucks. You get used to it after a while, but it has a few bugs here and there. Menu buttons aren't consistent and have odd behaviour that is often unexpected. Certain things were definitely improved, but a vast majority of things are worse. I don't like how I accidentally bought a skin I didn't have because the game shows me every skin I don't have now and makes it easy to accidentally buy things. The skin cost me like $2 though so I'm not mad, just disappointed. The game itself runs slightly worse than it used to, although DLSS and FSR really make up for a lot of the problems. It still needs some fixes to make it stutter less and properly load models in. This is the cost of progress, and the new engine will allow Crytek to implement more gameplay changes over time that should improve the game and retain player numbers, instead of only seeing boosts in player counts near events.

Overall I think people who are review bombing the game because the UI sucks now are overreacting. Crytek has addressed that people aren't happy with it and are working to alleviate some of the issues people have with it. In the mean time, the game is out in the Bayou...or in the Colorado valley now I guess. Get your Spencer rifles and throwing spears and get out there and collect some domes.

EA may be awful, but this game is possibly the best thing they've released for years. A++
