I will gladly change this review once Bungie adds support for Linux and the Steam Deck.

If Bungie spent the effort to get Destiny 2 working on Stadia, and Stadia uses Linux, then Bungie has zero excuse to ignore supporting Linux.

Runescape + Dark Souls + Albion Online but with much better graphics.
The game is NOT perfect. It has it's flaws. AGS has created a terrific foundation to build upon.

New World feeds the grindy addiction and the PVP mechanics are designed far better than Crowfall. It's no DaoC or Warhammer but it's got friends and that's what matters.

I cannot wait to see what the future of this game will be like.

EDIT: I've now seen the future of this and it's bleak.

The dev team has practically thrown in the towel at this point. The meta has been overfarmed and the content has dried up. We still cannot swim. There are still no mounts. There is still no endgame and the the dev team hasn't published a roadmap to turn it around. It feels like Amazon could pull funding from it's development at any moment and I'm no longer willing to stick around waiting for that to happen.

My recommendation would be to come back in 2 years after CDPR has invested the time to repair this game's broken foundation and pick it up for $29.99 as a Definitive Edition.

EDIT: 2 years later, CDPR has invested the time to repair this game's broken foundation.
It's a solid game now, especially if you have a powerful computer.
You'll enjoy the game even more if you watch the Cyberpunk Anime on Netflix.

By the gods... yes! This is the survival game that we've been waiting for. Finally!

Valheim is a different kind of survival title from Rust, ARK, etc. It's not designed to be a second job, it's not a glitchy bug-fest, and it's not a chore to play either. It's a modern day replacement for stable titles like Minecraft, chocked full of unique gameplay experiences that will keep you coming back for more.

I don't remember that last time that I had slept so little in a week but I also don't remember the last time that I had this much fun playing a game with friends.

Valheim is an extremely competent world-builder, precise in it's approach, that also creates an exploration experience that respects a player's time and rewards them accordingly.

The best GTA experience to date.

Update 9/17/2024: After 9 years, Rockstar has released an update that brakes the game for Linux / SteamDeck and Rockstar support confirms they will not issue a fix. Will update if they resolve the issue.

I would give this a 70% rating.
The first hour was really good, lots of unique elements and a compelling story but once I started to understand the gameplay mechanics, it gradually devolved into a grind fest that felt very similar to Bioshock Infinite(trashcan searching simulator). I scoured every nook to find every resource just to be able to unlock more skills or buy more ammo. Everything else in the game just became 2nd. I stopped caring about the people, all their stories, and whatever the next objective was -eventually I just wanted it to end.
The art is great. The animations are good. The game is really well optimized. Only encountered 1 bug my entire playthrough. The gun play is alright and the AI falls pretty flat rather quickly.

That said, it managed to hold my attention until the end so I'll still give it a thumbs up but it's just a passing grade.
The first, the original, Prey was a better game and to this day, I still wish that we got Prey 2.

This should have never been allowed to be released using the Project CARS franchise name.
What people seem to forget is that “CARS” stands for Community. Assisted. Racing. Simulator.
- They didn’t work with the community to make this game.
- This definitely is NOT a Racing Simulator.
PCARS3 is an arcade game and sadly it’s not even a very good one at that.

Before I continue, I want to be clear and let you know that I personally enjoy racing titles in all forms, from simulators like Assetto Corsa Competizione and rFactor 2 to Arcade titles like Wreckfest, Redout, Forza Horizon 4, Need for Speed Underground, and Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed -they all provide deeply enjoyable, fun, and rewarding experiences. Unfortunately, I didn't find Project CARS 3 fun or rewarding. The AI doesn’t follow a racing line, they will ram into you every chance they get (with the force of an armored van), and they will intentionally slow down on the last lap in order to let you win. All of this would be fine if I was 12 years old and this was my very first racing game on a tablet. Unfortunately for them, this is not a tablet game, I am not 12 years old, and the adrenaline rush that comes with healthy competition has been completely removed from this game (you will often finish 15-20 seconds ahead of the AI).

What’s bothersome to most people here is that back in June, Ian Bell stated “Project CARS 3 is a game changer, all of the sim you could want with all of the fun you could want. Handling is massively improved”. Esports Manager Joseph Barron then said, "We've also taken huge strides to make the game more accessible than ever before, without compromising the core racing and the driving experience that millions of gamers have come to expect from our franchise."

However, none of that is true, it was all a lie. The handling physics are laughable, and even though this title took longer to produce than PCARS2, it uses 90% of same art assets but for some reason everything else is worse:
The graphics are a downgrade over Project CARS 2.
The AI is worse than Project CARS 2.
The physics are worse than Project CARS 2.
The car engine sounds are worse than Project CARS 2.
The game somehow performs worse than Project CARS 2.
The VR experience is buggy -it wasn't in Project CARS 2.
It has less tracks than Project CARS 2.

Now, if you have never played the previous Project CARS title, I truly cannot fault you for having nothing to compare it to but there is no apologizing for the following issues:
The UI is heavily tablet inspired.
All sorts of arcade track markers litter the interface.
Pressing C to hide the interface still shows the arcade-like track markers
Paying to unlock tuning slots feels like something that was intended for the mobile release.
The AI doesn't have to shift like you do so if you drive manual, you will lose on every straight.
The AI uses a different traction model in the rain than you do.
The AI doesn't use a racing line and bumping/smashing into cars is required.
The AI has unlimited grip on certain corners of certain tracks.
The AI will use it's brakes on the last lap to let you pass. Winning feels unrewarding.
To progress, you have to slow down enough so that you can pass the AI a second time.
If you restart the race, the AI seems like it slows down to give you an ever greater lead.
The track limits are completely arbitrary and will sometimes penalize you and sometimes won't

Even though SMS had 3 years to produce this title, it honestly feels like it was rushed to release without any proper internal QA testing. To help paint why this is, the following timeline paints an ugly picture for SMS and it's one of many reasons why PCARS3 comes off as a desperate cashgrab since it has been purchased by Codemasters. It’s clear that they stretched themselves way too thin by trying to develop three racing games and a game console at the same time.

2018: Ian Bell took resources from the development of Project CARS 3 to try and create a next-gen game console dubbed the "Mad Box".
May 2018: SMS announced that they had started work on Project CARS GO alongside partners at Gamevil. A mobile focused racing game.
January 2019: Ian Bell officially announced the Max Box with an estimated release date of 2022 with the promise of 4K gaming and 120FPS VR support.
April 2019: Ian and his console development team withdrew their trademark filing after two major investors pulled out of the project completely.
May 2019: they released a trailer for Project Cars GO to a largely negative reception.
November 2019: Codemasters purchased Slightly Mad Studios for a palty sum of just $30 Million (by comparison EA purchased Respawn for $400 million)
December 2019: Slightly Mad Studios announced that a Fast & Furious game would be released in May 2020
May 2020: they announced that Fast & Furious Crossroads was delayed to August
August 2020: Slightly Mad Studios releases Fast & Furious Crossroads for $59.99 to 30% review scores.
August 2020: Slightly Mad Studios releases Project CARS 3.
Project CARS 2 is still $59.99.

Even as an arcade title, it's missing the element of fun so I cannot recommend this.

DRAG is like Dirt Rally meets Trackmania.
It's punishing but rewarding.

Update: It's run out of gas and the dev's have abandoned it.
Pump the breaks and steer clear of this one.

As someone who races a car IRL, on real circuits, rFactor2 has become my go to simulator for absolute realism. It's not an arcade or a simcade title, it is a legitimate racing simulator, so if you want to get good, it's going to take some serious time investment and lots of practice in order to learn proper car control. I only recommend this title to those with racing wheels so if you only have a game controller you would be better off with other stellar simulation titles like Assetto Corsa Competizione.

Here, you're not going to find a career mode, the ability to save up money to add parts to your cars, or any music from your favorite bands. rFactor2 is centered around racing in it's most purest virtual form. This simulator is all about providing laser-scanned accurate tracks, insane levels of accurate physics modeling in and around the car, complete with fully licensed vehicles from several manufacturers and the race teams that back them.

Compared to iRacing, the online component in rFactor 2 isn't anywhere close ...at least not yet, but here the AI, the force feedback, the sounds, the tyre model, the road physics, and the handling physics are 2nd to none which makes for a far more compelling experience behind the wheel. Better still, with rFactor2 there is no monthly subscription fee and you own all the content you purchase unlike iRacing where you lose the ability to use any of the content you paid for as soon as your subscription lapses.

ISI did a decent job with the underlying framework but the pace of development was far too slow for the first few years. Now, in the hands of Studio 397, rFactor 2 has come a very long way and the monthly updates that they deliver are always a welcome addition. Now, I wouldn't consider rFactor 2 affordable as all the extra cars and tracks cost $$ but there are lots of free tracks and cars you can download from RaceDepartment as well as the Steam workshop, for free. Like Assetto Corsa, there is a lot of value proposition to consider when there is a stellar modding community.

All that said, this title is still largely in development. They are continuing to make changes to the game engine and graphics so while it doesn't say that it's in Early Access, just know that there is still a lot of work to be done in order to appeal to mass consumers -especially when it comes to loading times. But, if you're serious about simracing and want the most realistic driving experience available to consumers, rFactor 2 is the title to get.
