I will evaluate the game under 6 criteria: Story, Graphics, Optimization, Gameplay, Game lifespan and Sounds/Soundtracks.

  • Story
The story of RE Revelations is located between RE4 and RE5. The main protagonists are Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield. A terrorist organization called Veltro has deployed a new virus and your job is to stop and Veltro and the virus propagation. Let's say it right now: the story is weak. They tried to add some suspense with an episodic scheme but it does not really work and you won't really care about what is happening or the characters themselves. Some of them even seem to have been designed to be used once anyway and are completely uninteresting. The "aquatic" ambiance is however kind of refreshing, but doesn't add anything really consistent to the story apart new monsters designs.

    Story score: 11/20

  • Graphics
It's a port from the 3DS. They revamped some textures but a lot of them looks like they come directly from the PS2. However, the 3D models are generally well done and their animations too ( for a 3DS port ) and the lighting is nicely used. It's far to be "Crysis 3 level" however it's watchable. The level design is very closed and "corridor based", telling you clearly you have to go from point A to B; if you are kind of clostrauphobic, this game is not really for you :-p ^_^.

    Graphics score: 14/20

  • Optimization
The game will run pretty well on a 5/6 years old hardware PC. On my laptop ( i7-4600 with a radeon 8500HD ), it runs rarely below 60 fps. The game is slightly buggy though, and if I never had any return on windows, I'm however constantly obliged to edit the ini configuration file to launch it, first on windows mode, then I pass on fullscreen via the game menu. I have never find a solution for this issue. I also had the same problem with Resident Evil Remaster HD. Guess it must affect the laptops with dual GPUs ( and with AMDs discrete ones ? ).

    Optimization score: 13/20

  • Gameplay
And there, you hit the first real force of the game. It's a real pleasure. In campaign mode, the aspect search/exploration is reinforced by the genesis ( a kind of environmental analyzer ). The weapons customization is back ( they dropped it in RE6 ) and is nicely thought. The characters are perfectly responsive and the implicit QTE for avoiding enemy damage is a very good addition by the devs. You cannot handle more than three main weapons and the ammo is kind of limited, but it is really not a problem when you know how to use the melee attack.

    Gameplay score: 17/20

  • Game lifespan
Another force of the game. The campaign mode won't really last more than 6 to 8 hours. You can try the higher difficulty levels for a challenge ( the hell mode is really not a piece of cake ). The real time monger will be the "Raid" mode, where you will spend a lot of your sessions, especially if you have a friend to play with ( the campaign is solo only ) and if you like achievements. The DLCs are more cosmetic than anything else and won't really add any value in this domain.

    Game lifespan score: 19/20

  • Sounds/Soundtrack
The soundtrack is not that great ( it's not bad either ) and the only score that I can remember is the one from the last campaign level of the game. The sounds in general are well chosen and I didn't notice anything wrong with them.

    Game Sounds/Soundtrack score: 14/20

Overall score: 14.6/20

Conclusion:
Resident Evil Revelations doesn't bring anything interesting or new on the table story wise but if you want a RE with a solid gameplay and a good play lifespan, this one will satisfy you.
