Early Access Review
0/10 they put the gotdang fun and addictive gameplay in my furry gooner game

Genuinely, this is a pretty well crafted game that’s really hard to put down. PLUS, every character has a massive bubble butt and slutty clothes no matter their gender! It’s a bisexual’s dream! (Yes, I got t h a t achievement)

I know I’m gonna get crap from my friends for playing this game, but it’s genuinely good and I’d recommend it.

Personally, I don’t know where to start with this game nor put into words just how amazing I think it is.

Everything aspect of the game has been fine tuned so missions feel completely new nor absolutely unfair. Tons of thought put behind every enemy, dwarf class, and weapon/utility for each character. There’s a ton of cosmetics that can be unlocked for free without needlessly grinding for a premium currency, with only one actually being locked behind a paywall- although that one is just for supporting the devs. The community is filled with friendly and inviting people and the game suggests helping others. Devs actively listen and respond to the community, and so much more.

I wish more games with similar gameplay loops and/or ideas did the same, or at least learned from Ghost Ship Games, because it would actually help these live service styled games in the long run, instead of petering off a month or two after release. Will it happen? Probably not, but I will look forward to any future projects from Ghost Ship Games with excitement, knowing it’s in the best hands

Rock and stone you beautiful dwarves!

P.s. I probably have a ton of grammatical or essay structure errors, so excuse me for not giving a damn, you know who you are.

The composer of Sonic Rush made a song for this game 10/10

Oh yeh, the gameplay is pretty addictive and chaotic so it'll be fun with parties and with frens.

Like most of the other reviews I got this game for free, the dev was nice enough to give me a new copy because I lost the first so that was nice.

The gameplay is very barebone in fact I wouldn't really call it gameplay. The "game" is a short walking simulator that's more focused on story, while the story is alright it only takes 30 minutes to finish the game. I don't know if there are separate ending or something else but I couldn't find anything. In short this feels like a tech demo and isn't worth $2 but maybe less than $.99

Ok everything is fine except for the fact that most enemies are too unbalanced and the fact that after dying 10 times and getting sent WAY back I stopped enjoying the game and started just hoping for a save point because of my first point.

Other than that I think its a good free/ cheap game but I would like OP enemies.

7/10

I would like this game... if it had a different name

I'm going to make this review as simple as possible.

The Good:

The artwork, music, and some of the platforming is amazing. I like the inclusion of bosses and the return of escape sequences.

The Bad

Lets start off with the abilities since that is one of the main selling points because it's titled as a metroidvania, they all suck. So one major difference between this game and the first is how this game is more combat oriented, the first was more platform oriented, the amount of weapons choices is nice but you'll most likely only use the same three weapons/ special abilities and only switch when the game wants you to, so many of them aren't used because they're underpowered or useful in unique situations which only occur a few times. The regular abilities are either taken from the first game or utterly useless, I understand that certain abilities like bash, double jump, and dash are important because they were important to the first game, but it still doesn't make any of the other abilities fun/interesting/useful, In fact half of the abilities can only be used in specific areas making them useless until that specific area shows up, in general it just makes it feel rushed and or like nobody put thought into it.

Next lets go into the story...or what little it is, I understand that in the first game the story wasn't that important but at least it was good with a great twist and it all was brought together to create a story that tugged on heart strings without making that the entire point of it, meanwhile in this games story (spoiler alert for anyone who wants to watch this lukewarm story) it felt like it was only there to say "Well yes there is a story in this game". The prologue was good where it brought back memories of the first game but in the end it made me only want to play the first game with how crap this game was, moving on the story is split into two parts like a play, the first part is about finding and rescuing Ku, your adorable adopted sister owl with a damaged wing, you get to use her in game for about 5 minutes... total, in the trailers shown they hinted at Ku being used more and being more useful after all she is the main strive to play the story but in the end she was just another background character which there are too many. The second half of the story is about retrieving the four "wisps" and stopping the evil bone owl thing called shriek, she is just like Ku, shows up only a few times and is supposed to be important, you only see her at the end of the first half and while their doing that they show her "twist", which is just her not being liked by the other creatures and somehow living alone despite being just born, after the "twist" Shriek strikes Ku and "kills" Ku making here unconscious for the rest of the story which the wise all might frog Kwolok (he's cool) sends Ori on a fetch quest of retrieving all the shards, and after that point Shriek only shows up a few times before their final fight which makes it seem that she's only there so you don't forget who the "antagonist" is, anyway Ori gets the Shards goes to the tree, the wisp tells Ori it's useless(even though they promoted it as one of the biggest things in the game), it requires a sacrifice, Shriek flies in, Ori wins, and now Ori is a tree with everyone being happy and the moral of the story is that the cycle of life or whatever. I don't like Shriek, they tried to make her feel just as important as Kuro from the first game but made her feel lesser and useless to the story.

Finally lets talk about the gameplay, as said before this game is centered around combat and not as much platforming so that means that every time you swing a weapon or use one you stop in place until the animation is done which in the air stops all of you momentum and has you plummet to the ground, I know that people have differing opinions about this so I'll keep my complaint about that simple. One of the things they were talking about in the trailers was having more characters... they all are useless and don't do anything to the story or much at that, they stand still and repeat the same lines, some do things like build things for the hub area but they still don't do anything.

I don't think this is the worst game but I wish it stuck to what made the first game great and not what everyone wanted from Hollow Knight.
