I've enjoyed what I've played so far. However I found the story lacking, the campaign gameplay horribly paced and uninteresting. The operations multiplayer mode is where the game shines. However, there are only six operations currently and more are planned as paid DLC. The game should've launched with more and while I can tolerate this bs to an extent. I cannot recommend for others to buy this game at full price. When what the season pass promises seems like the other half of the game. As opposed to us having paid for the full $60 game for a $60 package. Right now, it feels like I bought a $60 game for a $30 package or more-so $23 package.

I played through the game three times, then I played through the game twice with a blue orb guide open. All with Vergil, I do not wish to play through again with a blue orb guide open. I found all the purple orbs. I now have full health, thank you, because I bought this. I don't really mind this paid DLC because it tells the player you can earn this in-game; But the option to purchase it is there.

Fun, almost a Half-Life 2 experience. I like the character, I like the story. The puzzles took me a second but they're alright, I'm not a big puzzle guy. But I managed to figure them out. I beat the game on Bad Cop(Hardest) difficulty because the game starts-out on that difficulty. I'd say I died 17 or so times, mainly on the final encounter. Hard to jump an attack when we have a two inch vertical leap. But overall I'd call the game massively impressive for a mod. I felt like a combine. None of this washed-down, you turn into the good guy half-way through the story BS that Battlefront 2 EA tried to do. You're the bad guy, you've got your reasons, deal with it.

Campaign is very engaging in it's story and great fun. The multiplayer tends to vary wildly in terms of competitive value and pace depending on what map you get in the matchmaking pool. The developers are very responsive to the community and fixing problems that are identified(usually by the discord bug section.) However I don't find myself willing to give the story another playthrough or engage in the multiplayer(mainly due to the slow pace and balance concerns.) Each campaign for better or worse will take an hour usually. Either because the mission is decently challenging, or the objective forces you to a slow crawl in terms of progressing towards the main objective.

Decent game, I personally loathed the soundtrack. Luckily the new DMC5 Virgil theme seemed to do the trick to listen to while playing.

I really enjoy the game but I don't think it's worth the price-point. A lot of the meta is based around DLC character perks to keep up. If you buy the base game you'll find your experience to be very grindy. How do you cut down the grind? buy a DLC, buy the Cannibal/Leatherface DLC that gives you BBQ And Chili. Are you getting gen rushed, buy the Hag and Clown DLC. When you buy this game in a sale it will be forty to fifty USD with all the DLC you'll need. At base the price is more around 70~USD. I got it during a super cheap sale, still costed a lot. But you better be willing to commit to getting all the DLC, unless you like losing.

I've never been one for three-person fighters, I have a hard enough time remembering one character's available moves and how to use them. This game makes you miserable in terms of playing online, interaction is limited to emotes and text. Most of the community has fully adopted trolling and teabagging as the only form of communication.

Getting hit once in this game will pretty much end a match for you. Picked the wrong character, the wrong team, didn't buy the DLC characters? Go ♥♥♥♥ yourself because you spent money on this great looking stylish game that most of the roster is useless against a small percentage of the cast.

EDIT: 2021, A lot of these points have not changed.

EDIT: June 2021, These points have not changed and I am uninstalling this game for the foreseeable future. Hopefully Strive will be a return to form for ArcSys and I will probably never buy a three-man-team fighter game ever again.

Played it with a friend, it feels like a overpriced flash game unfortunately.

One problem, one solution, roughly thirty some odd ways for the game to tell you that you chose wrong and failed.

This game suffers from it's control scheme (namely right click to move in an spectacle fighter.) As well as, the narrative perspective being from the fox Reynardo's point of view. As I tried to sink my teeth into this game, I often found myself wishing I wasn't playing Reynardo. The brash, dim-witted, never think things through pirate who had given up glory for a calm and peaceful life was irritating to be held back from a narrative perspective.

Securing a weapon of ultimate power, having scientists tell you that it has a very likely chance to blow up the universe if you use it. You don't have a choice not to use it, you can only watch as Reynardo uses it; despite what you may want to limit yourself with. The main problem of the game for me was the narrative. It painted a world that was interesting; but made me see the game through the looking glass of someone who took that world, it's characters and it's factions for granted, like he had no part to play. Since the player has no way of impacting Reynardo's personality, we're left to watch as a fox stumbles his way through carefully laid plans we chose and plotted, often resulting in a Bad End or Game Over.

Another issue that the game has is the gameplay model. You will replay level after level, over and over with the only differences being how much loot you receive based on magic swords you build to unlock areas. This drags on after your third victory or so and I really wish they used this to unlock branching story paths, rather than there being a chest at the end of each one.

Lastly, the game desperately needed more big truths to discover and combine together for more 'true endings.' I enjoyed the game for five playthroughs to beat the game; but the game just lacks anything to really make you want to play more after you beat it. Since the game is incredibly easy by that point, there is no enemy scaling and you know that each time you complete the story it's going to tell you how you chose wrong and failed. Don't get me wrong, I love the story tidbits, I read through some I found and actively searched for them for a sense of deeper narrative. But when it all leads to the game telling you, 'Sorry kid, you didn't do it the way the GM/DM (GameMaster/DungeonMaster) wanted you to do it so you lose.' Is a problem seen with tabletop roleplaying games when there's a bad DM/GM. There's one solution here folks; if you don't find it well, that's it, start over, play through the game again. It leaves a sour taste for the game I was enjoying so much at the start. I appreciate the effort on the concept; but the execution... better luck next time Spearhead Games.
