I saw this game in a LP a while back, just the very beginning of it, and it went right on my wishlist, while I ignored the rest of the LP because i wanted to experience the story for myself, and I am glad I did, it is definitely a game you should experience first hand to get the full effect. I saw a review when I purchased it that kind of stuck with me, I don't care to dig for it, but basically, they said that they saw an interview that stated there was no canonical murderer, and this spoiled the game for them. Because it 'didn't matter' who you picked. But just let me state after having actually completed the game, if anyone else feels the same way.... the identity of the murderer is not the point. The game is more about the main character, Andreas, and about the town it takes place in, and that includes the doubt brought on by him worrying if he had accused the right person or not. If there was a canonical 'correct' murderer, you could wiki that, and would never be able to experience those doubts yourself alongside Andreas. The game does disguise itself as a murder mystery early on, but his doubts creep in more and more, as well as mysteries around the origin of the town, all leading to a mindbending twist that I won't spoil in the third act. It's a layered story full of metaphor and history, but at it's core, it is about trauma, grief, tragedy, and how people deal with that and rebuild and evolve after something terrible happens, both as individuals and as a community.

I think the game does have some flaws, some parts can feel a bit on rails, or get a bit repetitive and/or drag in some sections, sometimes it does feel like your choices don't matter as much as they should, sometimes it just becomes a game of looking for all the hotspots to interact with. But these are minor flaws overall, outweighed by it's positives. The art is beautiful, the story was great and hit me in the feels, and I would definitely recommend it.

I think the idea of a Steampunk city builder in the same vein as the old Impressions games is a fun idea and I am having good time with it so far, and overall I think i could still recommend it, but with some reservations.

It is cute, I like the aesthetic, and coming in from enjoying the Impressions games, I liked that it felt familiar. Overall i am enjoying myself. But.... there are a few glaring issues. I know the bulk of this review will be taken up with gripes, but I am still enjoying it more than not, though it is... tepid. I'd wait for a sale on this one.

Firstly, this game only supports up to 1920x1080. If you have a monitor that is higher than that, like me, who has a 2560x1440 display, and set the resolution to 'auto' the game will be riddled with black boxes where there are missing textures. I did some searches after running into this in the tutorial, and it seems to be a consistent problem for people with higher resolution displays. You can either set the textures to 'medium' or set the resolution manually to 1920x1080 and it will fix this, but at this point higher resolution displays really should be supported. I have never encountered this problem in any other game, it's completely bizarre. I am just glad the resolution/texture change can sort of fix it, otherwise i would have to give this a thumbs down as it would be unplayable.

The options in general are incredibly anaemic, you just have resolution, language, volume, vsync, and texture quality. The inability to rebind keys is especially frustrating, i would love to have rotating the map set to a keybind, or some of the overlays or whatnot, but alas, it is impossible. I get that this is a game made in the style of older games, and it is isometric so a free camera can't be done, but that doesn't mean some more modern features like rebinding keys can't be thrown in.

And the last one is just.... something that broke the immersion for me. ok, so it's a Steampunk game, great, I love Steampunk, that's why I got this. They extract Steam to power things via geysers/hotsprings and then use pipes to transport it. Fine, I am down with that. ....then it is condensed into canisters. It's basically treated like LNG. Guys. That's just WATER. Condensed steam is WATER. maybe it's HOT water, but... I'm sorry, I know it is a fantasy setting but... it's water. Maybe make it so that there is some special element in the geysers rather than the steam itself? But I'd have preferred if they just made connecting pipes to buildings to transport steam a bigger part of the game. As it is the pipes only connect to a few buildings, and having the pipes be more widespread would have helped the game feel more distinct, offer more challenge when it comes to designing districts, and add an additional feature to help distinguish it from like, playing Pharaoh with a new skin.

Backed this game, and was absolutely not disappointed, well worth the wait to get the extra content. Awesome level design, great story, endearing characters, loved it.

I fell off of Assassin's Creed after the second game, but came back to this after seeing they totally revamped it to make it a full blown open world RPG, and had a great time with it

I have been using the Steam Controller since it came out, and I love this thing. I love the versatility, the ability to configure a game's controls on a whim, it's comfortable to use, and it's held up well since I got it over a year ago, with heavy use.

Is it as precise as a mouse and keyboard? no, but it's close once you get used to it, espcially if you give gyro aiming a go, and is faaaaar superior to a dual stick controller, and it allows me to forego the mouse (which i have to, due to repetitive strain issues in my right hand) without me pulling my hair out in frustration over the controls. I've played the entirety of Fallout 4, Witcher 2 and 3, Portal 2, and many more with the controller, I've even played some more mouse heavy games like Civ 5 with it, or even browsing the web, or using my computer (ouside of Big Picture mode, which I don't like much) and it's performed admirably. About the only game I couldn't get it working to my satisfaction with was Marvel Heroes, a top down ARPG, but that was mostly due to the devs programming in travel restrictions if it detected a controller being used.
