I don't think I've played many games in my past where you immediately get the sense of tone within the first few minutes. Especially with games that are of such grand scale as Death Stranding. Granted I think this is achieved with the incredible intro that showcases the beautiful landscapes and music provided by the band Low Roar.

Death Stranding is one of those games where having seen countless teasers and trailers for a couple of years prior, I couldn't grasp what the game was even about other than it starred Norman Reedus. There was actually a time before release where I thought the game seemed a bit convoluted.

Its with great relief that I say that the game is anything but convoluted. It lets you into a world that is so fleshed out with detail and depth that it's actually refreshing. Over on the PS4 I spent so many game hours between objectives just exploring the world, getting a kick out of creating structures for other players to use and completing the more trickier deliveries.

The graphics are beautiful, the music is gorgeous, the characters are interesting, the voice acting is excellent and I think the main important thing with this particular version of the game is that it really is an excellent port. I don't have the newest of rigs but the game managed to sustain a solid 60fps with ultra settings through most of my experience.

In closing, this game deserves to be a part of your Library

Having just completed the game I have to say that in a short space of time the characters of 'Poe' & 'Munro' have really grown on me. I really liked how they are with each other, their chemistry and banter. I really bought into the mythos that these two had a history that went beyond the professional and I hope we get future instalments with the radio duo soon.

In keeping with D'Avekki tradition the acting from the entire cast was strong, there didn't seem to be one weak link in the entire production, the stand out for me was Munro herself. Leah Cunard comes off as charming and likeable from the start and to see her performance radically change during a certain cross over scene just blew me away. Give this girl an award.

Klemens Koehring was also very strong in his performance, and would be the first actor to give me a case of 'Manly Voice' envy. The story was well written, it felt a little reminiscent of classic twilight zone episodes mixed with old radio drama's from the 50s.

My only negative is that the story did have a habit of becoming inconsistent and muddled with character's reacting to situations is really bizarre ways. There is a also a Hypnotism scene that really broke the immersion for me when it started to include Inception like rules.

But overall this is a very good and more importantly fun experience. Its a top quality FMV with a fantastic D'Avekki's feel. Fans of the FMV genre need to check this out.

Pros:
* Excellent acting
* Likeable characters
* Multiple choices (my decisions felt like they carried weight)
* Fantastic music score
* Reasonable game length for it's cost
* Great story being told (In the majority of episodes)

Cons:
* Story sometimes feels like it lacks focus and consistency
* Even though the game exists in the supernatural genre it often asks the player to suspend disbelief.

Having just completed the game I'm don't mind admitting that I'm just in awe of what Super Sexy Software were able to accomplish here. The game play mechanics and animations are by far some of the best I've seen in a video game.

For all intents and purposes this is a Walking Simulator in the vain of Gone Home but its so much more than that. Its like someone took Gone Home, PT, Stanley Kubrick's The Shinning and Steven King's 1408 and threw them all into a blender. The result of which is this really intense and tragic story that literally unravels around you.

The optimization is worthy of note too with my rig barely breaking a sweat through out the entire experience, even in the more graphically demanding moments. The audio, both musically and voice acting compliment the game really well and I'm just surprised that more people haven't found this particular gem yet, games like this really need to be encouraged and celebrated.

Pros:
- Intense psychological story with some horror eliments.
- Beautiful graphics that get better as the game becomes more complex
- Tension building audio in terms of ambience, music and voice acting
- Great Optimisation even on my potato of a laptop
- Really reasonable price (I would have paid more)
- Reasonable game length

Cons:
- None.

Summary:
*A beautiful highly detailed hotel to explore
* Nothing feels rushed or low effort
*Terrific voice acting, especially from the main protagonist
*A refreshingly great story that 'unravels' over time
*Excellent use of audio to aid suspense
*Good optimisation, the frame rate never faltered.
*Satisfactory game length (About 5 hours for me)

Review:
There are so many things this game did right.
It provides us with a highly detailed and beautiful hotel that simply feels like it could exist in the real world, there is purpose in its design and many times I found myself just curiously looking around. It makes excellent use of sound with the music and mysterious ambience really playing an important role in the experience. It has a gripping story that unravels gradually building up the suspense and there were genuine moments where I found myself having to pluck up the courage just to turn a corner, unsure of what I might find.
One of my favourite horror films of all time is Stanley Kubrick's The Shinning and I have to admit, the Timberline Lodge really gives off an 'Overlook' vibe. Pretty sure I recognised the carpet from somewhere XD.

Closing: If you're a fan of really well done Walking Simulators in the vain of Firewatch or simply love exploration with great story telling then pick up this Gem.

Pros:
* Loot! so much LOOT!
* Character levels at a decent pace
* Beautiful world building
* Voice acting is superb from our character's male & female actors
* Decent drop rate of rare items and gems
* Skill attributes and scaling is quite intricate but not confusing
* Price point of game seems accurate for content on offer
* Good optimisation - rarely encountered any bugs or hitching

Cons:
*Bring your own friends (Matchmaking leaves something to be desired)

Review:
I have fond memories of being at college in 2002 and instead of revising or completing course work, me and a few buddies were up till the wee hours hack & slashing our way through Diablo 2. I loved the experience of levelling and finding unique items, having my character go from wearing nothing but rags and turning into a non stop duel wielding killing machine. It was addictive gaming at its best and when It was over I sifted through various other games of the genre, hoping to recapture that thrill and excitement D2 provided. When 2004 came around I was introduced to Ascaron's Sacred which felt more light hearted and fantasy than D2 but still provided a similar exciting experience. When Diablo 3 showed up in 2012 I was damn near giddy reliving my 2002 experience but this time with gorgeously rendered characters and backdrops. Now in 2020 I have Wolcen: Lord of Mayhem that Is indeed scratching that itch once again.

Closing: People need to stop bashing this in the reviews, what we have here is a GEM.

So I've just finished State Of Mind, clocking in about 15 hours of solid good gaming and my Initial thought was this: "Where the hell have you been hiding?"

I haven't played a game with this level of rich story telling in a very long time, It has so much complexity and scope. From the beginning you get the impression that this game wasn't just slapped together by a studio trying to make a quick buck. It has heart, it has really terrific voice acting, the soundtrack sets the Black Mirror tone brilliantly. I enjoyed the art style a lot more than I thought I would and to be honest, for Low-Poly art the environments are very detailed and in some instances down right beautiful. You are provided with a lot of choices through out the game, many of which feel like they have a fair bit of weight behind them.

Its funny but even though story wise and graphically the two games are very different, I was still getting 'The Moment Of Silence' vibes through out the game, its nice to see how far Daedalic Entertainment has come since 2004 and I can't wait to see what's next.

Summary

Pros:
- Interesting and thought provoking story
- Great voice acting and music
- Beautiful world building
- Low-Poly art & animation style really works
- A satisfying ending
- Good Price

Cons:
- The main Protagonist is a bit of a bastard

Been a fan of Darkling Room games for years, they always provide such great atmosphere and I love that there's a company out there that are keeping these sorta of point & click adventure games alive. The Ghost Vigil manages to give that familiar Darling Rooms vibe while providing a pretty creepy new experience. I really enjoyed getting to use the new tech the player is provided. Practically felt like a genuine ghostbuster. A+

I have to admit that this game wasn't really on my radar, like at all. Which is weird because I really enjoyed Fran Brow back in 2015. When I saw it over on the store page I decided to check out some 'fancy' YouTube videos and watched a few minutes of the game's illustrator, animator, and the designer Natalia Martinsson working on the environmental art and I was simply blown away by how one 'Little Lady' covers so many bases in one production.

The fact that she also provides the astonishingly adorable voice of our main character just blows my mind. I'm usually the sorta guy that enjoys horror games, is a fan of the occasional shooter and can trash talk with the best of them, so the fact that this game had me going "Awwww" with every remark Little Misfortune says during her adventure is beyond me.

The game's art is of such high standard that I felt compelled to buy the 'Fancy Edition' just so I could check out more of this world that Killmonday Games have created, the two voice actors did an amazing Job as Misfortune and 'The Voice' and the story was great and interesting. I didn't expect the ending to play out as it did (my total time playing isn't accurate btw). My only criticism at all was I wish it could have been a little longer. Bravo Killmonday Games A+

Summary

Pros:
- Interesting and thought provoking story
- Great voice acting and music
- Beautiful world building, the animation style is Fancy
- A satisfying ending
- Good Price
- The Fancy edition has a lot of great stuff.

Cons:
- Game made a grown man feel emotions.

This game is a prime example of how I really need to start ignoring reviews in the future.
Just before purchasing Blair Witch I had a quick read and at the time there were more negative reviews than positive, so I was surprised to find myself purchasing the game anyway.

I think what swayed me in the end was being a big fan of the original movie. You can imagine my surprise then about an hour into the game and finding that I was really enjoying my experience. The game for all intent and purposes IS a walking simulator in the vain of firewatch until later on in the game when it starts feeling a bit more like 'Layers Of fear'.

The difference being this walking simulator gives you an awesome faithful companion in terms of a dog named bullet. I thought the dog might have been a hindrance at first but he was very beneficial, often barking to indicate when I casually strolled past a clue, warned me of dangers and helped me track down objectives. I found that his presence really added much needed levity when things started to get grim.

I love the way the story gave us a character who not only had to experience the insanity of the Blair Witch deep within the woods, but he had to do it while experiencing moments of PTSD. Both of these things combined gave us a character that you couldn't help sympathise with. The graphics were great, with some areas of the forest being quite beautiful. No areas felt like they were half done or rushed.

The voice acting was good enough and the cinematic were also of a high quality. I didn't really get any performance issues that others had but I did start playing the game after the performance patch was released. Overall a great experience. 7/10

I'm totally blown away by what Messy Desk Interactive have created here, When i first entered the corridor I was reminded of Star Trek: Voyager Elite Force, a classic game I loved as a kid, It was only when entering the Mess Hall that my jaw dropped. Graphically The Orville looks stunning. It feels as close to photo realism as a video game can be and yet the performance / optimisation is also great. Looking forward to see where the game evolves from here.
